dudecool, 23 Mar 2018whats the point? most people that dont want to spend money ... moreFor me personally, the J series was the perfect alternative to the S, and cleaned the clock of comparatively priced older flagships. When the J7 came out, I put it against my friend's S7 (and my aging S5), and we measured boot times, web searches, etc. I was amazed at how well the J kept up with the S7, and it absolutely crushed the S5, which wasn't much of a surprise. What's annoying is that the used price of an S5 still towered over my brand new J7, so for me the J line is a no-brainer option for the budget-conscious who aren't obsessed with horsepower.

dutchie, 22 Mar 2018do you want them to release a flagship every quarter....? whats the point? most people that dont want to spend money on a new flagship will just buy a flagship from 2-3 years ago.
yet samsung make about a 100 midrange models a year..

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2018Midrange phones this year are not good at all. Samsung,Nok... moreLow specs? Did you expect midranges to carry SD 8xx series and 6GB RAM or higher? Man Nokia and Sony use SD 630 which is still relevant and better than the last year's midrange star SD 625.

Kiyasuriin, 22 Mar 2018Let's have it easy. J is midrange. ALWAYS a midrange. just ... moreC'mon girl, I ain't sayin' that all midrange phones are garbage. I mean it's garbage coz of its specs, knowing samsung, are no longer competitive against today's available offerings, at this price range usually chinese companies like xiaomi and huawei will offer devices with far more superior specs compared to samsung's offerings. So it's usually overpriced and samsung has a tendency to put 2 years earlier's specs to brand new phone. That's why it's garbage, its specs aren't worthy of its price.

Midrange phones this year are not good at all.
Samsung,Nokia,Sony,Huawei etc. all offer low specs at high price.

Meh, 7870 one more time. I have the same CPU in J7 2016 I own. It was good enough for 2016, but it already struggled in J7 2017, only because of Full HD resolution. So yeah, in my opinion another stupid move from Samsung. My next phone will probably be Huawei or Xiaomi, only because Samsung really cares only for their flagships, and puts two year old CPU in a brand new phone.

dudecool, 22 Mar 2018another garbage midrangeLet's have it easy. J is midrange. ALWAYS a midrange. just don't comment if you want flagship. I am a flagship lover too. (Owner of an S9) and I comment accordingly to the segment needed. if it's flagship. I'd praise it's pros and try to point out the cons in a way it's not offensive. if it's a midrange. I'd try to compare it to the avarage price per spec. and comment accordingly. I would NEVER say it's "midrange garbage" because I am aware this is midrange. and not a spec leader.

Forget about how they ask a bit too much for their J series, the naming scheme is just purely confusing to say the least.
Starting from the J7 Prime, they should've just continued it with J7 Prime 2 instead of J7 Pro (makes it sound like the J7 Prime was released in the same year as there is no generation separation in their names).

Hardly any improvement over their 2016 models except slightly more RAM maybe. But the updates are not very good so overall Samsung fail...no thanks.

Well , damn . That's countless of their "J series" mid-rangers. Sure , i do like the J series as they do offer some good specs since the original J series , but that's too much diversity on one type-phone series (ex : J3 (year release) , J3 Pro , J3 Star , etc.) , that i can no longer keep up with their series tho....
