Counterclockwise: people liked the idea of tablets, actual tablets not so much

There was massive hype about 8 years ago about a "post-PC world", but reality has a cruel way of proving hype wrong.

But very few if not none have a removable battery, 4K screen? You need an extremely powerful chpset for that (s820 of qualcomm and up)
And 1TB of storage is non existent on such slender figures. (Even phones have at top Quarter TB) AS FOR YOUR IDEA.... you'll have to write from scratch such an OS

Tablets are going to die if they keep on copying laptops and phablets. Tablets are NOT and WILL NEVER SELL successfully if they keep on focusing on laptop like productivity as their selling point. The absence of a built-in, permanently attached keyboard and ample processing power does not and will not make people choose them over a true laptop (conventional or convertible) with non-removable keyboard. In the same way, tablets will never sell if they don't offer anything unique from a large phone or phablet. Nobody likes to carry a bulky 10" tablet everywhere just so they can play mobile games or view Facebook and YouTube on a bigger screen. People would rather get a phablet or big phone if they want youtube, Facebook or mobile games with them, anywhere they go. What should be the unique market or use case scenario of 10" or larger tablets then, for them to truly survive and have a market of their own, in which phablets and convertible laptops can't take away or serve? Digital photo/video frames and digital photo/video albums. Tablets should be primarily a living room device functioning as either of those two (digital photo/video frame or album). Software should specialize on those two main functions of making it easy to view or display photos and videos through very simple touch screen interaction. Tablets should have at least 1TB storage and expandable memory for photos and videos. Tablets should have at least 4K screen resolutions and at least 10" in size for a truly better than photo printout picture quality. They should aim to replace the traditional photo albums or photo frames in livung rooms. They should have removable batteries and long battery life as well as excellent screen life and quality. The living room is where tablets are supposed to be, and only occasionally to be carried elsewhere to showcase photos and videos to friends. Tablets can also specialize as full sized electronic magazines that again, you see on most living rooms. The sheer 10" screen size and 4k screen quality, the 1 TB storage and long battery life with ability to swap with fully charged battery when empty and the focus on tablets as a mainly living room device (and only an occasional mobile device) will surely revive interest and sales figures in tablets. Until tablets are going to have 10" or larger screen sizes, 4K or better screen resolutions, 1TB storage with expansion options, and removable and long life batteries, with software focus on photo and video quality and focus on it being a living room or coffee table device, tablets are going to DIE without having anything different to offer from laptops and phablets.

Does this take into consideration that most people treat tablets like PCs? As in, they don’t have the 2-3 year lifespan of a smartphone, but more like a 6-7 year lifespan. There was such an enormous sellthrough of tablets in 2011-2014 that the market is likely saturated. Everyone who wanted a tablet now has a tablet that sufficiently fits their needs, and they won’t be getting a new one until the one they have gets too slow to use.

Tablets are lighter, thinner and way more portable, only power and functionality holds back tablets.
People are more and more mobile these days so form factor of devices is only going to get more and more important.

I bought a macbook pro only because the Ipad doesnt give me the functionality to plug anything external into. if it did, I would have bought an iPad.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say eventually once companies can fit the performance of of a macbook pro or better in a tablet and tablet provide more functionality, then they will overtake Laptops.
Tablets just need the power of a laptop and i guess more Android/iOS support for industry standard applications and demand will go up.
