If Apple's planning a cheaper iPhone 4, does that mean the iPhone 5 is already around the corner?

                Blankman, 24 Aug 2011The Apple-Android debate has run for too long. Android ... moreI could not agree with you more. Apparently it's really hard to comprehend the differences between the 'big 3', and how every brand has something for a specific group of people;

                A new attempt :)

Android - Open source, highly customizable, highest amount of freedom with your device, overall highest and widest offer in devices and Apps, which inherently creates rampant growth (unnecessary apps and devices). Adaptable to hardware specs of a device by using manufacturers' custom launcher, essentially making it a feature phone. The customer is the filter here, and it is up to the quality of information the customer has to make the right choice. Once made, it is generally a great choice. The most interesting place to be for early adopters, considerably less interesting for the mainstream market (if it is to be used to its full potential).

iOS - Closed, limitations on certain services which impedes with a free use of the internet (Flash, among others). Highly tailored to the best user experience, which takes precedence over the existence of a complete package of available options. Not as up-to-date as Android, but more stable. Requires little to no attention - 'pick-up-and-play'. Little to no differentiation in product line, devices or software versions.

Symbian - Since recently - relatively up-to-date but still based on old, if not ancient OS that is nonetheless resilient, stable and comparatively lightweight. Does what it should do, but lacks innovative and interesting options. Very limited Appstore, limited device customization options, but a wide offer of different devices in every price range and for a very broad group of consumers. The least interesting place to be for early adopters, highly useful for older generations and the mainstream market, but less appealing to younger generations.

Specter06, 24 Aug 2011Hehe, I live in the Netherlands and they've already made cl... moreBetter even. The product ban takes a little while before it will be in effect, and by then, Samsung has declared to already have a newer version of the Galaxy series on the market.

                  I LOLed.

The only reason people hate iPhone is because they can't afford one or they have used an iPhone is their lifetime. They just see a few videos of iPhone n think that they know everything about it.

This cheaper version of iPhone will open the door of mid range consumers for Apple. More people will buy iPhone n realize in what way Google had been fooling them.

Yani, 25 Aug 2011Mile, you're totally right! It always starts few weeks bef... moreA year old iPhone 4 is still better than samsung galaxy S II. iPhone still has a better OS which is free from lag, crash, and malware unlike android. Android will never have as many high quality apps as iOS has. Even iOS's free apps are better than android's paid apps in terms of quality.

The only thing which is better in SGS II is the dual core CPU but that also adds up to the existing short battery life problem of android. SGS II has super AMOLED display so what....iphone 4 has retina display. In my place iPhone n SGS II almost cost the same but iPhone is made of high quality materials like scratch resistant glass n metal while SGS II is all cheap plastic.

Personally, I would have preferred the release of a 64GB (sixty-four GB) version of the iphone 4. It would be nice to say, have a special edition by the name of iPhone 4D (Duo) with the following spec amongst others: at least 1.4GHz Dual Core processor; dual band wifi a/b/g/n; HSDPA 21Mbps/HSUPA 7.2Mbps; 64GB Storage memory with 1GB RAM; 4" screen size; 1800mAh battery; to mention a few. Above all, I WOULD LIKE THE DESIGN TO REMAIN THE SAME, MAY BE A BRUSHED STAINLESS STEEL BACKPLATE.
Is it possible you guys bring the attention of Apple to this?
                          Many thanks.

It always starts few weeks before the new iPhone is announced.
I hate it when people are comparing phones that are more than 1 year old (iPhone 4 was released on 24th June 2010) with newest Android flagship phones that were released only few weeks back.
Patiently wait till 7th September and then comment how SGS2 is 1000x better then the newest iPhone.
I personally think that the order goes something like this:SGS->iPhone4->SGS2->iPhone5
But all in all, there aren't more than 5-10% differences between them, they are all more or less great phones.

But there are alot of free apps that if you don't do an in-app purchase it's like you don't have that app.
