Hello Life, 04 Apr 2018Apple is never ashamed of what they do.. unlike this one pl... moreApple didn't hide it because they "think" they invited it
why don't Apple be a shamed of copying essential PH1 or sharp aquas S2?
plus "hide" option is there for
1) decrease the battery consumption (thinks to AMOLED black doesn't effect the battery)
2) so haters can stop B*TCHING about it >:(
serusly they all ready made the phone they can't just re design it
plus they admit it that "FULL VIEW" is BULL$HIT
what do you want more? they even changed the name of oppo R15 DREAM MIRROR to PRO they are a shamed of the notch but they still want a better way to display notification
iPHONE X TOTALLY need this feature to save battery for the notch and the chin (the HUGE bottom UI bezel)
keep on hating FANBOY >:D

How is it that Mi Mix2s was able to avoid the notch? Simply because it wanted a niche for itself and not just copy / imitate Apple. They were able to make better decisions and avoided the notch.

Now it's a known fact that One+, OPPO VIVO have same design team ( or say that they pay for one design and make multiple gadgets out of it with different names on it).
Only to save the name One+ have added this feature.

Instead of thinking a great way to utilize the notch, they instead just make it useless overall. When the cutout is left into black, it will act as a bezel and will provide no function at all. The manufacturer might have as well just put a normal thin chin instead of a cutout, and there you could've had more important hardware components like LED notification light, front stereo speaker, etc.

AnonD-558092, 04 Apr 2018"PnePlus 6". Gonna call this monstrosity like this from now on.Lol James what the hell...xD

If that update allows in ALL APPS the hiding. I'll consider getting a notch-y phone.
          if not. NOtch BUY!

Akinaro, 04 Apr 2018by adding that option they admit that notch is failure. ... more"hide" the notch doesn't mean "remove" or "cover"
you still get notifications icons in both on and off (like LG V10 secondary screen)
tell me what was the size of oneplus 5T? 6 inch screen and 6 has 6.28
the 0.28 inch is the size of the notch and when you turn it off (thinks to AMOLED) it will look like 6.0 inch screen like 5T
the only thing oneplus admit is that they used the notch as an excuse to call there phones bezeless (like most copycat
now with everyone knowing that you can't use the notch to display pictures or videos (actually there isn't much 18:9 video ether so...) or apps or games (until Android P) no one will belive "FULL VISION VIEW" BULL$HIT any more (why do you think that oppo R15 DREAM MIRROR is changed to PRO because it is hard to pronounce? or because it is bull$hit?)
so no this is use full at lest oneplus and LG know that we just need other brands to under stand "we are not kids any more we know it is BULL$HIT"

Hiding it means losing usable area on the screen A top and bottom thin bezel is far more logical than a pointless notch....

I laugh when i read hide the notch. It's physically there lol you hide nothing you watch it, so you only can dissimulate it but the physical line will still there.

And why hide it? Oh oh, they are afraid of the flop once they figured the mistake they did. Of course, they not forgot increase the price $50, so if now the OP 6 64Gb cost $525, the OP 6T will cost $575, the 7 $635, the 7T $685 and the 8 $735, 8T $785, 9 $835 and 9T $885, interesting. Mission accomplished.

At that progression, when they are going to add useful features like the stereo speakers, cameras with OIS, IP 68, microSD slot, wireless charging, improved camera processing, etc? Oh wait, they are too busy increasing 0,7 seconds the speed oppening your apps and maintain the smooth... that Op 3 already had. Well, at least they added a new thing... the notch that a lot of customers refuse, congratulations! Welcome to the ugly features.

In the OP 6T they'll let you open the apps 0,034 seconds faster and they'll add new themes to dissimulate the notch. A pink with yellow flowers could be cool...

Akinaro, 04 Apr 2018by adding that option they admit that notch is failure. ... moreI want a notch. so not everyone hates notch like your self. so having the option of hiding the notch doesnt not mean that its a failure. instead now it means you guys can stop whining about it. It litreally is the best of both worlds. But i get it, haters will bash anything and everything you give them. XD

Still, a better solution than a clear notched cutout display as the screen will be AMOLED for full black notch hiding color and notification icons will get their own space. I appreciate this move being a notch hater.

I like how everyone just accepted this notch thrend. I still hate it though. And if there's a possibility to hide it, why not just borderline remove it?

I don't have a OnePlus device and I don't plan to buy one, but I believe the idea of hiding the notch it's just brilliant!

by adding that option they admit that notch is failure.

If you need to hide it why the heII you put it there in the first place?

Beside covering notification bar where now you have limited space for icons and info(signa/battery/data) That notch have nothing useful in it. Every app hide it anyway, even system ones.

What is the problem to put 4-5mm bezel instead of that notch?
