I didn't say that iOS is buggy I said it has limited set of apps comparing to android
BTW IPAD in proformenc is batter BUT that has nothing to do with the OS actually android and chromebook and windows are batter in case of software specially windows 10 because it was made specially to feet right between the needs of tablets and laptop/computers but it is not a good phone OS
why do you think chromebook OS exist? why not using Android?
because android is specifically made for phones why do you think the first IPhone was running on a "MODIFIED" mac OS? why not just adding touch gestures to the original UI?
PLUS multi tasking is the most important part of the ipad it was "LATELY" added when they realized that it was the key selling point of laptops and hybrid tablet/laptops (surface tablet for example) and even tho they still use low RAM so multi tasking was $HITY

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2018iOS 10 already was like that, the iPhone 5 on iOS 10 is pre... moreHowever that is highly doubtful sadly. As that's how most companies let alone are.

And ios 11 is only one of there more extreme cases. Sadly many ios versions have been like that. Almost like last second rushed betas. And a nice amount of bugs.
But that supposed level of extra care, precision, optimizing, and quality is supposedly what people pay more for.
And the better part of it that does make somethings work a miniscule better or easier to work on is it being less featured and only on a few devices. Rather than it being their own claimed optimizing and skill.
And that was part of it. They've had to add features and change things more now with more optimizing actually being required.... and that was not their Forte at all.
... Such a sad thing to be so blindly believed by so many.

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2018Ios 13 : no more slowing down the previous devices iOS 10 already was like that, the iPhone 5 on iOS 10 is pretty similar to it on iOS 6. As far as I know, the 5s was slower on early versions of iOS 11, but this was due to iOS 11 being unoptimized and every device was slower then. That's also why the iPhone 8 lost in most speed tests against the iPhone 7. I hope Apple will give the 5s iOS 12 if it is really all about performance and battery life and resolving issues.

Apple will never ever give the flexibility and features that you naturally expect from the Android world, they are intentionally keeping it that way to maintain the distinctiveness among the smart phone makers and its the only way to maintain their distance from the crowd and do business while keep you guessing rest of your life.

It was nice when after a couple years of updates brought the user the ability to do things like send and receive multimedia text. What an advanced os.

Still lagging behind Android in terms of features, some even basic. iOS would appeal to Android users like me if only Apple decides to make it less restrictive, flexible and providing support for basic stuff like file manager, ability to connect OTG, no iTunes for content transfers etc.

One thing to note, Steve Jobs was against the AppStore.
He wanted to build an open-standard for making High Quality WebApps, mostly a selfish move so that all Apps work seamlessly across the iPod, iPhone, iPad, iTV, and iMac and wouldn't require rewriting. However, this wasn't possible at the time because Java was plagued with issues and HTML5 was in infancy/beta. In fact, Java was outright forbidden from iOS.

Hence, they were forced to go the route of Native Applications/AppStore.
And thus began the era of Walled Garden, with Google taking a similar approach with the Android NDK for the Google Market (ahem PlayStore).

As an iPhone owner from work, a few things that irritates me is the restrictions they put. I mean. Sure, there has to be protection against viruses, Ransomware and so on. But I want things my way, and still in warrantee.

Those were big updates some version is suck personally I like iOS 6 most but it's completely useless. iOS is now a thing that is really suck and buggy. Hopefully Apple will bring back the RAM Management from iOS 9 again.

A nice article, interesting to see the evolution of iOS. I'm also surprised that people survived without copy paste for two years!

The only issue I had was hardware related, where the iPhone 5 battery life was pathetic. Even with moderate use, I couldn't get a full day out of it. Bigger phones and bigger batteries have solved this issue.
