In it I wrote that Note series was different in most of anything to S series. Neither Note 7 nor Note 8 were that. They were the plus model + pen. Literally they could had released it 3-4 months earlier instead of the plus model.
No research went inro it, no differentiation, no nothing. For example the safety layers of Note 8 prexisted in S8. There is almost nothing to dofferentiate it from S8, same with Note 7. If anything its battery exploded despited not being anything spectacular (s7 edge already had 3500 mah), so it was actually a step back.
Who is buying those phones? New Huawei flagships are what old Notes use to be, packed to the brim. It pains me too, because I will never buy a Huawei due to the backdoors and the spyware. What happened to Samsumg?

While the note 5 was indeed a pretty poor phone in the note standard, both the note 7 and the current note 8 are miles ahead of the notes before it. They are in a class of their own. The only aspect they fell short in is battery. The note 7 had excellent battery life but cut corners in quality assurance made them literally explosive. The note 8 has multi layers of safety protocols behind its battery, but battery life is admittedly not stellar, although that's not to say it's terrible, because for a 3300 mah juice pack powering quad hd, it's pretty darn good. But in terms of everythig else: power, performance, user experience, features, productivity, utility, you name it, the note8 destroys every note phone before it.

Anonymous, 11 Apr 2018Note 5 was LAST TRUE NOTE with 16 :9 and FLAT screen.
Othe... moreNope, no true note. Small sealed battery, same SoC as the S model, same resolution too.
Note 5 was the first fake Note.
Before that all the Note phones were heavily distinct from S models. Different design language often, different SoC, more ram, higher resokution, high battery. They were basically what the S phones would be if everything was one notch further than they already were.
It was the prototypical pro phone. Note 5 was a toy phone. Small sealed battery , no advance in almost anything compared to S6. A shameful display from Samsung that ended up in disaster (less sales than any Note before it) and set the tone for the rest the disastrous note phones (in both sales and functions)

More of the same and Sami thinks we will upgrade ... Humm me thinks not .... Samsung you got to understand that with Android OS you can get a lot of good phones much cheaper ...(Please drop Tizen --- it is pointless) .
Curved Screen / S Pen / IP 68 are all good but you need to do much more to justify the premium you are asking
so to get a premium you have to have
1) MILT 810 G
2) 4500 mAh battery'
3) 8 GB RAM
4) 128 GB Storage minimum
5) 6.5 Inch Screen
6) Less bloat ware
Ideal will be
Android 9
7 nM chips
5 G Ready

The fact is... every new Galaxy Note will come with a medium to major fault on it, we have the bendgate, the flame/explosion, the freezegate, and now the Note 9 only God knows what issue it will carry... i will take caution when i buy the Note 9 just in case :)))

No doubt, the note 9 will be a very fine flagship device, But I will wait for the note 10, as I already have a formidable galaxy note 8 since Oct 2017

AnonD-632062, 11 Apr 2018https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a9_pro_(2016)-7903.... moreThe reason :
*A9 Pro has Bigger Bezel instead Note 9 with Infinity display.
*A9 Pro does not have S-Pen that make unfit the 5000 battery.
*A9 Pro does not has Edge Display that reducing space components on it.

Samsung are the most likey largest mobile phone provider to bring out underscreen fingerprint reader this year and have curved screen edge with stereo sound. The technology has been proven with Vivo x21 UD already on sale eBay. So in my mind Samsung won't want to miss out on the much takes about and awaited feature. I think though might wait for S10.

ReticentHamster, 11 Apr 2018This. A thousand times this! Seems like every manufacter... moreSamsung were the ones pushing the 18.5:9 trend through with the Galaxy S8. Why should they even contemplate going back to 16:9 to be the ones being different? Samsung doesn't do the notch and I expect them to stay away from it like a petrol drenched muppet from fire.

My whole thing with this is, yes, 4000 mAh batteries should be standard at this point for flagship phones that are priced $800+. If Samsung is going in that direction, great. It's about time. BUT...will the battery be optimized for the software? What this tells me is that there WILL be a fingerprint scanner under the screen. If people are constantly unlocking their phones throughout the day, a fingerprint scanner under the screen will require the use of the vibration motor for feedback, every time the fingerprint unlock is successful. That will kill the battery faster. If Samsung doesn't optimize this bigger battery, the battery life will still be the same as the Note 8 with the much smaller 3300 mAh battery.
The reason why Huawei phones last so long is because they actually optimize the software to work with the hardware. That's what a responsible OEM is supposed to do. Will they? We'll see...

someone, 11 Apr 20180.1" is not considered "FAR TOO BIG" id**T. Score some good... more6.4" screen in 16:9 aspect with navigation keys below screen makes for a significantly bigger screen than 6.3" in 18:9 with nav keys on screen, essentially making it around 6".
I had a 6" before the 6.4" Sony Z Ultra and now Mi Max. It made a huge difference.
Hoping for the best with mi max 3. big screen, big battery, plenty powerful and efficient snapdragon 636/660 and for the love of all that is holy - NO NOTCH!
