2012 is going to be a tough year for Android. Those who bought Android phones will probably change OS as per latest surveys with WP7 likely as the one benefitting.

AnonD-14721, 27 Aug 2011Thankfully, most consumers don't give a damn about 'technic... moreAnd you're absolutely entitled to that opinion. You're right that a lot of consumers care more about ease of use than technical depth. Most people won't root their devices and multi-boot between Android and Ubuntu linux or even consider overclocking their devices. Some people just want a regular phone. But if that's the case, why buy a smartphone. "Technical Pedigree" often spells the potential for device platforms. That's why iOS was so revolutionary... It wasn't revolutionary because of its overall mediocrity.
Devices like the Motorola Atrix which (because of Android) can output video direct through HDMI as well as run another OS on top of Android for display on monitors(which is basically webtop)is an example of why, in my opinion, function will always trump form -- at least for me. Without that "technical pedigree" we wouldn't be seeing devices like that. And its devices like that, that move the industry forward in exciting new directions. And ironically, despite your protestations, the people that like Android like it because of its flexibility, stability and its overall ease of use...
Yes, ease of use is very important, but just because you don't factor all this "techno babble" in, doesn't mean that its completely without merit...
I'm doubtful that everyone thinks exactly like you. If they did, then they wouldn't be buying smartphones...
Maybe... standard cellphones and possibly pony's.... but not smartphones...

it is nice to hear a 1.5 ghz processor but why the ram is not 1 ghz.
l used desire hd its nice but sometimes its speed is low and if i checked the ram uses then its max. ram is used by the system.
so I recommend it should b of 1gb of ram.
The main drawback of my phone is battery .....if its life is increase then it will b more better.

Why not 1 GB of RAM... =/

And, is that a secondary camera I see? If so, does that mean WP7 Mango will now support video calling? I hope so (even though I probably won't use it =P) because nearly all touchscreen smartphones nowadays have one. Dual core?

To be honest, I'm waiting for Samsung to announce that WP7 Mango device the is the equivalent of the Galaxy S II (the one that was shown at a Microsoft conference a while ago).

I played around with the HTC HD7 at my local phone store and even though it wasn't running Mango it was still an enjoyable (and different) experience. I used to dislike the tiles but now I quite like them and it's growing on me. It looks better than Android and iOS! =)

epolaris, 27 Aug 2011Everyone is entitled to an opinion on the subject. In mine,... moreThankfully, most consumers don't give a damn about 'technical pedigree'. For me, consistency, stability, and ease of use - not flexibility - are the most important factors, and many would agree. Else, why are Windows and OS X flourishing in the computing world when something as open and technically advanced as Linux is out there?

Android phones sold well because they were cheap and varied, not because they were above and beyond comparable competition.

In mine, WP7 is no match for Android. A lot of the things you pointed out are purely superficial. Android is clearly a more robust OS technically speaking. If you want to have a real conversation about mobile OS's, lets talk about Meego/Harmattan which is just about the only OS capable of going toe to toe with Android. If given enough time, it could have had an amazing impact in the mobile world just as Android did. Android and Meego have MUCH more of a technical pedigree behind there names than anything WP7 could possibly scrounge up... I'm so sorry Nokia abandoned a uniquely powerful OS like Meego for something as simplistic as WP7.. Don't get me wrong, I respect what Microsoft have attempted with this OS, but to be frank, the OS is just too linear and lacks technical depth. It's far too linear to compete with the likes uber-dynamic linux based OS's like Android and Meego.

You can hack it....in fact there is a lot of people working on WP7 and some are found ways to unlock and open the OS....

Also in fact before Android borns there was already teams as XDA that already OPEN the Windows Mobile Software

ROOT is not Open, Not all the Androids can be ROOTED easy.....

So for some people is not that open as it supposed to be..

In terms of marketshare. Maybe after a few years, maybe not. Android has no hardware restrictions unlike WP.
