It seems this model Redmi S2 has rather strange market position. The spec seems to be between Redmi 5 (with Snapdragon 425 and 720P display) and Redmi 5 Plus (or Redmi Note 5 in China, with Snapdragon 625 and 1080P display) I doubt that there is enough price and value gap between the two Redmi 5 and 5 plus to justify separate new Redmi S2 model with Snapdragon 625 and 720P display.

And the name "Redmi S2" seems strange too. There was no "Redmi S1" or "Mi S1" model. There was Redmi 1S, but it is variation of very early Redmi 1 on 4 years ago. There is smartphone AP named "Surge S1", made by Xiaomi. And there is rumor of Surge S2, sucessor of the Surge S1. But it is said that Redmi S2 will use Snapdragon 625 AP, not "Surge S2" AP. So where the moniker "S2" comes from?

It has 16gb internal memory? No sense in this era, Big no. It should be default to 32gb to 64gb .

Perhaps they want to try 720+ resolution on 7 inch screen. I don't understand what is this diversity in models.

This could be the S2. It was certified in Indonesia about a week ago along with redmi note 5 (pro) that will be launched today.

You know, I had exactly the same idea--> trying 720p on a Snapdragon 625 to ace its performance and efficiency both. And it happens.

                                Did Xiaomi read my mind?

And now, I'm expecting a solid 45+ fps on the Asphalt 8, quite possible, right?
