r33fd, 25 Apr 2018There is simply no point in a compact flagship.
Why put an... moreYour point would be valid if manufacturers put flagship cameras in middle-end phones.
I couldn't care less for games and movies on a phone, I simply need it to be a handy pocket assistant. And I also want to get rid of the bulky separate camera I have, luckily modern flagship cameras are good enough for me.
Unfortunately almost all manufacturers market their phones for those who only use them at home, at school, in the office. Games and movies, movies and games. God save Sony.

r33fd, 25 Apr 2018Actually this 6.1 inches is about as big as an old 5.3 inch... moreNope, it's considerably wider (72 mm) than old 5.2" phones (70 mm). Though one might argue that it doesn't matter much as both 70 mm and 72 mm are not comfortable to use.
18:9 is one of the best innovations to come to smartphones in the last five years. It helps us get more screen space while not making the phone less comfortable to use.

Nedo, 25 Apr 2018Lg has proven been as brand to be avoided, lets start with ... moreG6 was literally the worst LG with the worst sales of all.
What palent are ou living in?
It literally desteoyed anything that was good with g5 (its modular nature) without adding anything other than looks (not even performance, basically same SoC).
A giant step back from LG that was severly punished. Good thing you are not an LG strategist, although I suspect theirs are not very competent...

Anonymous, 25 Apr 2018Seriously why all phone makers forget small phones? Think a... moreSimple: demand. Today's most popular display size is 5.5", followed by 6.0" and 5.1" sitting well in the 3rd place. The full screen display trend has pushed this, previously above 5.5" is not so popular. Now, if 6.0" goes up there must be other sizes that go down, who's the victim? Under 5". Gone are the days of small phones.

Why put an expensive gorgeous display if you can't really enjoy videos because it's too small ?
Why put speedy SoC ? What kind of games are you gonna enjoy on a small screen ?
Compact flagship make no sense to me. Just buy a budget/midrange phone if you don't care to consume media on it.
If you are buying a flagship it means you care to enjoy the multimedia experience that comes with flagship specs.

I think the notch is ugly on curved screen corners but maybe it would looks gorgeous on a squared screen corners example Xperia XZ1.

I agree surely 6" screen is the max for a phone but no its not apparently. i know its not 16:9 and bezels are tiny but i think thats getting more into a tablet with phone capabilities territory.
Which ok if thats what you want there you go your catered for. But its not what i want and from reading its not what alot of people want. Flagships every year get a bigger and bigger screen to justify it been a flagship at what size will it end? I think thats why midrange phones do so well the 5" to 5.2" designs are all round what most peoples happy with. 6.5" G8 anyone?

Geric.770, 25 Apr 2018This phone will fail seriously. Notch? Mostly people didn't... more"Mostly people don't like the iPhone X design" you say, and yet I see the things in use in the streets, on trains, buses, in airports every day, probably at least as many as I see Galaxy s8's and more so than any other 2017 Android device. Now I know that Apple fans don't have anywhere else to go, but if the "notch" was hated by so many why don't more of them just buy an iPhone 8 and save themselves some money? So I'm not convinced that it's as big a problem with the general public as it is amongst the internet commentariat.

I bet the sRGB % does not even reach 120%.
If LG is a big LCD supplier, why not a screen 120Hz + 10-bit like XZ2?
