I knew it...people always whine about the notch and the lack of 3.5mm or the price, and then just buy it anyway. Zero sanity and zero self-respect. Which, unfortunately, affects the few reasonable users who have no reasonable choices because of all the zombies constantly buying the newest overpriced fashionphones.

I like the 1080p video of this P20, and I hope they will improve the 4k video for the next Mate.

AnonD-729142, 27 Apr 2018no actually the s9 plus got the most powerful android procc... more4k video is overrated am sure 90% of users usually record videos at 1080p resolution most of the time and they are of high quality too, and Huawei has the best 1080 p stabilization. So i guess stabilized 4k videos not a deal breaker for me and many others, regarding the display, you can never go wrong with that Amoled that p20 pro has its top notch despite it being 1080p. Kirin 970 processor is not a slouch either, p20 pro will perform just equally as S9+ but where p20 pro shines is long time good performance because of AI capabities

From years of going into phone stores, I know that the majority do not research their device fully, if at all. I work in a respectable job, where everyone has a high standard of education, and many have comfortable lives. I can only think of one other person in my department that actively researches things. And likely not to my level. The majority, have minimal clue. I know, because so many ask me. One guy bought a Huawei, low end device, as he only wants to access betting apps. The rest really just stick with the latest whatever the salesman said. They then come back and regurgitate what the salesman told them. I politely avoid picking holes in the bull, and leave them to it. I guarantee you, Huawei has made a real push in store and in online stores. It takes the salesman no effort to flog them.

Proves a point some have made before, the notch is despised by a high % of us, but most consumers don't care. These are easy to sell devices, based on the battery, screen, number of cameras. Based on my experience in phone shops, these will sell bucket loads. Why? Because I have not heard many punters asking for a 4k screen, so a decent 1080p is fine. Without taking a picture, it would appear that it has a better chance of taking a good photo, based on having more cameras. The tiny little spec sheets are likely to list the mega pixel size, and most will assume more = greater. I suspect that most won't notice the missing headphone jack. Shiny back looks good, to most. Battery size beats all others available in UK stores. Also, the P20 Pro is extremely well priced, for a brand new device. Under cuts the S9+, and even the Pixel 2 XL in most places. Huawei know, that if you buy a phone from this week, you are unlikely to need another from Samsung et al, for 2 years. Personally, I don't like the way the phone colour has been applied only to the top. I think their video capabilities are poor. The EMUI also, based on the reviews I have seen, struggles with some apps, including Google Maps. Huawei know that the little card next to a phone in stores is a snapshot of features, devoid of context. They can now claim bragging rights for topping some of the numbers. What will keep the buyers is that battery, any other phone they go to will seem paltry.

Proud owner of a Huawei P10.
But in my opinion 3 cameras is just a gimmick. They didn't know where to innovate so they tried the camera. Doesn't mean is a bad phone, is actually the only phone I could buy right now.
When I see something interesting and want to make a picture of it I just put out my phone and make the picture. I don't care if it has 1, 2, 100 cameras.. as long as it gets the job done.
