      This actually doesn't have any of the background services running anymore like "bonjour" and receives auto updates. So it's still an advantage over the older app which requires all the background services.

              Uhm, it was announced in May at Build 2017, not March. Even your article about it is dated May 12th:

              Then again, it's 4 months past the "end of the year" 2017 annouced...alas, better late than never.

              Switched over to the store version on my Surface Pro 2, so far, all is working great and only brings the following benefits:

              - Fast and seamless updates for all apps all managed in 1 place
              - Support for live tiles and other Windows 10 APIs
              - No worries of left-over junk if I ever decide to uninstall the app in the future
