messing with my equaliser on xperia z5 always brings the best out of any headphones i use. i currently use the wireless awei ak8 xd red unique version and they sound just as good as my older sony xb50 headphones, and they were pretty great with awesome bass.
Now the ak8 are almost as great and im ok with that.

Remember folks.. software is as important as the hardware. I bet the sound that's coming from my awei is better to hear than the one you guys listening to, because of software. Yes you can't bring back quality that wasn't already there, but there are always workarounds.

Who wants listen to lossy files, is free to, but its funny seeing someone to argue how one of products outing lossy sound is of higher quality than another, while they ditch quality for portability. Like, what they want...?

You can buy Pistons for ... 5$.
Or Fostex or Sony or Sennheiser headphones for the same price as Portas.

There are tons of better options.

For the price you pay for the wired PortaPro you're very unlikely to find anything sounding better. I currently have Sennheiser headphones and earphones, because they obviously sound better. They also cost a fair deal more, making the comparison pointless. :)

FOr like $37 [mass drops prices] they are tough to beat, granted the K702, HD 800 or LCD 2 are all better but I don't care to walk around the super market with $800+ headphones -.-

No no no no NO dsee!
Why the hell would you add "random" data to a compressed sound?
Do you think it will magicaly "upscale" music?

+ It does not depend on genre you listen to. Sure Koss are bass heavy, but that it just more dB to base, the overall quality of the sound is miserably low. Listening to Porta Pro is like listening to 96kbps MP3 file.
+ Light. portable? There are toons of small / in ear headphones.

Fearghast, 02 May 2018I tested UR10, UR20, UR40, Porta Pro, The Plug and SB-45. ... moreDepends also on what you listen, genre/quality. Basically its about being light, portable, and that is for sure. Wireless ones from sony with LDAC are the best option in wireless audio on the go, but thats just simulation of quality, sort of near lossless. Could be better with dsee, not sure if xperias support that. Still most pure sound stays with wire, or at home.

Every single one of those is nothing but a subpar pair of headphones.
Maybe 20 years ago, if you live in a country that had limited market back then, maybe then you had a reason to buy something made by Koss.
Koss is just a bassy trash with cheap plastic construction.
Even the cheapest Beat headphones sound better.

I do, but that is not the point, that is entirely different price range.
My point is Koss Porta Pro wired version sucks, wireless version is the same in the term of drivers, so it will sound the same or even worse thx to Bluetooth.
Koss Porta Pro is just a synonym for nostalgia garbage. Luckily it's often just in selected countries where Koss was one of the first that entered the market there.

PS: Wireless QCY QY19 (less then 50$) sounds better than Koss Porta Pro wired.

I had the good olde Porta Pros once upon a time. The sound was indeed great for their price and size. Quite big sound in an old school compact size.

I like Koss, but I have yet to use the Porta Pro, in any incarnation(which includes KSC35 and Sporta Pro). I have used the KPH7, KSC75 and the UR10. One day I will try the Porta Pros, but I would be more likely to buy the original, wired version, when I want to try them. Personally, I wouldn't pull the trigger on a $40 set of them, let alone an $80 version. That is my preference though. If anyone wants to hear my past experiences with Koss headphones, I would gladly tell them.

But surely its great for mp3's.

Is this comment section merged with another topic? It is Koss Porta Pro comment section, is it? :-D
To Koss Porta Pro all I have to say it's - they are pure garbage.
I own them and they sound incredibly bad - awfull base, the worst highs I probably ever heard out of headphones, terrible build quality.
And these are worth of "new" version?
I know many people must love this trash otherwise, there will be no "new" version ... but seriously? Does garbage need a new version? 80$ ...

What does s9 has to do with..? you know what? I won't be bothered with stupid people.

Nice headphones these ones! I would get em if i didn't already have a great pair of in ear wireless ones. Imagine the bass from these though..!

                                    Heloooo.
