Xiaomi phones are really great for the price.
Definitely my best pick for people who want great phones but don't have enough money to pay for better.
I'm glad such companies like this exist. It gives a message to consumers that we don't always need the best things with the highest price tags just to be happy.
They are just telling us that we don't need the most expensive things in this world, instead we just need to get what we all need in life and pay a reasonable price with it from Xiaomi, while getting the same level of quality and user experience as from much more popular brands.
I have the Redmi 5 Plus, using it to type this comment, and I literally see no super important thing on super high end phones that this phone cannot do, apart from newer techs (and mostly not-so-important/useful) that are still exclusive to them.

AnonD-625621, 03 May 2018Strange.. companies loke sony htc google nokia all fall und... moreOkay but why mostly Sony?
I guess you hate it so.....can't help with that fact that you prefer to hate over to appreciate.
And this statistic doesn't change the fact that Sony's techs are always ahead of everyone else.
You see, when would Samsung and Huawei make a 960fps super slow motion camera smartphone if Sony didn't start it last year? You'd probably be dead already by the time they're planning to make one. LOL.
And who made the three sensors of the P20 Pro's camera?
Yes it's Sony.
The XZ2 Premium's camera will challenge the P20 Pro in low light, but even the XZ2 alone can finish it.
So I'd say stop with your bullsh*t and find a better way to live.

Nope. BBK electronics is a single manufacturer with three big sub-brands: Oppo, OnePlus and Vivo. Together bigger than Huawei or Xiaomi.

Anonymous, 03 May 2018How do budget phones compare to flagships in software exper... moreThe lower tier hardware ones lags with demanding apps, old mediateks, SD2XX and some 4XX, old kirins etc. In the mid range SD625 and P25 were starting to be interesting without need to buy flagships and capable of run all fluid, of course with lower quality and settings in games than more powerful ones. With the 636 and the 660 the mid-range now is very capable and a nice experience in all so go to the flagships products is more a matter of longevity of the product without the need of change it, and usually better cameras, etc. But no always, the Zenfone 5 with 636 is a premium mid range phone complemented with the best, cameras with OIS, stereo speakers, microSD slot, audio jack, FM radio, without spending what a flagship of this year cost. Perhaps with an alternative of older flagships of one or two years old depending of the model. The Nubia Z18 mini is a beast for its price but lacks of some 4G LTE bands, not sure if in the future i'll be a version with B20, the older Z17 mini had it, can't understand why they removed it. It's a matter of search and buy the best you can afford or wait and be patience for upcoming models.

Anonymous, 03 May 2018How do budget phones compare to flagships in software exper... moreHaven't used a budget phone really but depends on your interpretation of budget. Whether you mean cheap with lower specs or cheap with higher specs (xiaomi's mi line). Regardless, i'd imagine software on the higher end is still good. They usually have the same hardware as more expensive phones. All comes down to manufacturers and optimization really. Like samsung is expensive and have some of the best hardware but have a tendancy to lag after a prolonged period of time. At the moment it isn't as bad as it used to be, but that's a thing. I've heard huawei has a really good software experience even in the long term so depends on the manufacturer as i've said.

companies like sony and HTC are struggling because of their price strategy. No company can achieve success without getting popular in Asia. and Asian market is price conscious market and it is also not a flagship market. People in most populous countries like china, India, Pakistan. Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia want a better phone in lowest possible price. and this is where xiaomi is delivering. OPPO and VIVO's success was also temporary and they are going down now because of pathetic phones against higher prices. Samsung is also loosing market share in Asia due to same reason. People had expectations from Nokia, but they failed to capitalize their name because of much higher prices. just price Nokia 7 plus for $250 and see how table turns for Nokia.

This is good news. With rising popularity xiaomi will eventually be able to produce high quality flagships of its own identity. But on the other hand, they'll be able to command steeper prices as well.
