Oppo caught cheating in benchmarks with its Oppo F7 smartphone

Antutu just presents a series of CPU and GPU workloads, which the system scheduler allocates resources. Since it is a benchmark which tests theoretical peak performance capability of the soc, there is no reason why the scheduler should exhibit thermally constrained behaviour and limit the peak capability, defeating the purpose of the whole exercise.

Remember, we are not testing efficiency or thermal characteristics here. We are just trying to determine the maximum ability of the soc within the device being tested. The system detects it as a benchmarking app, so it allows the HMP enabled cores to run all out, which it is perfectly capable of in the real world as well, if a task is heavy enough to demand all CPUs to run at close to 100%.

It doesnt make sense to use thermally constrained governor designed for efficiency and battery life on a benchmarking app.

    That's why it is cheating.

Sadly there are many people who blindly follow these bench-marking scores, These chinese companies doesn't care about the end consumers thus they cheat on these scores to fool the consumer

Anonymous, 04 May 2018Well, you all forgot about Nokia being cheating?when the heck did this happen :D .. LoL people nowdays say anything on Internet

Sometime back I saw an article on this platform, glorifying the scores of Helio P 60 at MWC 2018 and now they are believing in a random Vlogger. I do not know what to believe and what not to believe yet I can say only one thing that proofs are required and in the YouTube video, there is no proof to be considered.
Other than this, why is this issue highlighted so much when there are other brands also which have done things like this before?

          These cheaters never learnt.
Consumers need to punish them, don't buy Oppo devices!

This is probably just miscommunication by gsmarena's point of view, it's just you guys have given an evidence of Helio P60 being capable of giving such results, and this is actually backed by all of renowned youtubers and bloggers.

            Please provide some solid proofs.

I think this is a fake news as the vlogger did not show any evidence.

Common guys why are you blamming oppo. Mediatek helio p60 actually has these scores in MWC. Infact you guys published an article around it. If you forgot, this is the link - https://www.gsmarena.com/mediatek_p60_chipset_headed_to_mwc_geekbench_reveals-news-29759.php

Can also check antutu score of device which was used in mwc. - https://yournexttech.com/mediatek-helio-p60/

Taking the reference of one of the articles on GSM Arena only, I can only say that authenticity of anything cannot be assured. The vlogger who made a video on the same does not show any evidence of the same, leaving the claim null and void. The scores showcased at the MWC 2018, were also similar.

.....an EMPTY AnTuTu Benchmark app with the same package name as the real one .....
An empty app will not get the processor heated up so there will be no thermal throttling indeed.
                            Nice conclusion......

Hence, all this oem from apple to samsung, to whatever go the road of fooling the mass of ignorants that anyway, will never see the difference
