The merge will only mean more call center jobs and more reliable network. But we cannot deny the fact government is just taking measures to prevent monopoly. Let's cross the bridge when we get there. :)

A country is in a very poor state once you have to "regulate" markets.

dewey, 03 Sep 2011Monopoly is one thing but do you all realize how much jobs ... morethere will be no significant job growth, imagine the current workforce of t mobile, they will be laid off and so would the independent T mobile store owners.dont forget the flip side when u talk about job growth. its good that the merger did not take place and ATT shud drop its bid as it will only hurt consumers and vendors alike

I think Vodafone should have a go. They already hold 45% of Verizon, so why not establish their own GSM network over there.

KENFU, 02 Sep 2011All this is silly. Let em merge. Verizon is moving to LTE, ... moreExplain to me how would AT&T going to bankrupt if they can't buy T-Mo? Last I checked AT&T still have A LOT more subscribers than T-Mobile.

I wonder would Simple Mobile have the funds to buy ou that 25%. That would put them more on the main stream cellular providers. But i know they only do prepaid so i dont knwo how that would work out.

All this is silly. Let em merge. Verizon is moving to LTE, which is a GSM offshoot and AT&T is moving there as well. So there wil not be only 1 GSM. Plus if AT&T does not buy tmobile, they`ll end up bankrupt and everyone will be out of work. Get government out of this. They mess up everything they get their hands on.

[deleted post]I read this comment and the Shrek movies popped into my mind (ha ha ha!)
Yeah... I'm also against the so-called merger. However, phone manufacturers could simply make phones capable of accessing all types of networks, not just those specific to T-Mobile. Just like how they do now with penta-band or 2G/3G phones.
