I would rather buy a phone with bezels than a phone with a notch...
And I decide to stick with my S8 pretty much as long as it's still working or until something that will make me say "WOW" appears on market. Last phone to make me say "WOW" was the S8.
All the phones are same/similar recently, prices are high and yet improvements are minor. The market is pretty much satiated, most of the phones will serve all needs and purposes of average users just fine. Also, the variety of phones was never as big as it is at this moment. Not to mention all the time increasing number of manufacturers. Even people who want to have best and latest phone all the time have given up on it since less than every 6 months there's newer phone with some new feature or improvement, which isn't significant but costs A LOT!

What a combination, LCD display and the notch. Perhaps this is LG's biggest invention, to introduce the phenomenon notch to the world just before Apple. Why don't you just make a full bezelless phone. And about OLED screen, we all know it is not cheap, so you can not put it to every phones you made, don't be cheap LG.

Does it really matter who planned it first the fact is Apple came out with a notch phone first so it's a blatant copy of Apple iPhone x.show some originality LG the G7 is a rip off as is the p20 from Huawei and the rest of them new androids coming out .All the new androids look the same today so boooooooooring in design and not much better underneath just give me a phone with a damn good camera that takes execellent puctures day and night and 40000mah battery so I don't have to charge it every night .there is not one phone in this category ,and no the P20 is not that phone the camera defaults to ten mp. The photos look soft and soft fultermlike day time photos are a ordinary at best .hate the notch full stop.

Or if they do (since the v10 and v20 had a second display) and since its the 2018 trend that they remove it in their 2019 line even Samsung didn't include a notch in their S9s.

That's BS, they should be ashamed of themselves!
iPhone X made notches a trend. They knew of it and they should change their design if they were honest.
The notched plans for iphoneX were known one year ago, when LG has decided to change their G7 plâns and start from scratch, it's obvious that they did it just to copy Apple.
And what makes it more obvious, both for them and oppo/OnePlus is the lower bezel.
The reason iPhone X has a notch is because they wanted to minimize bezels, you can see it on its design that the lower bezel is minimal and in order to keep the upper bezel as minimal, the only option was to grow it locally where the camera and sensors needed to be placed, this is what created the notches.
The LG 7 has a quite big lower bezel, if they wanted to maximize screen estate, this where they should focus, the same goes for the new OnePlus too.
If you have an upper bezel as big as the bottom level G7 has, you host the camera and sensors there and then have a minimal lower bezel without notches. But no, the intention was to simply copy the Apple trend...
Same goes for the vertical camera set up.
Just because Apple does it, cheap monkeys copy them, even if it's right or not...
