And please also get your facts right, the ban is still there. Trump's own idea to ease the restrictions has already been rejected by the Congress.
Looks like you are too brainwashed by the brainwashed cheerleaders, or you are simply one of them? LMAO!!!

AnonD-758394, 10 May 2018Best way to test the Chinese's claims: "They said Huawei... moreWhile this statement has a good claim, Kirin (The manufacturers of Huawei's chips) is still a subsidiary of Huawei, so it would be likely that Huawei would either restrict usage of their technology outside of their own branded device lineups like the P, Mate, or Honor series, or they would end up raising the price-per-chip if they were to sell it to ZTE in order to gain profit, thus rendering ZTE at a substantial disadvantage due to the fact that they are a tech firm who focuses on more budget and mid-range devices instead of more premium devices. Personally, I think that Huawei's choice to make their own chips was a clever idea as it would reduce on spending for buying SoC's from a place like Qualcomm, yet it also allowed them to get creative with what they want the chips to focus on whether it be performance, battery life, AI, etc. So in the end, I do not think that Huawei would be selling their Kirin SoC's for this reason, though fair point on the claim.

"They said Huawei is better than other brands, and Kirin 980 is better than other chips" - Well, I guess they can also tell ZTE not to worry about the US ban, because they can buy better chips from Huawei. If it don't work out, then it means the claim is a lie.
"They said China is a better country than the US" - Well, let's see who sends more illegal immigrants to the other country and refuse to leave, then we know if the claim is a lie because actions always speak louder than words.

peachy001, 08 May 2018If a phone, and I mean a decent one, launches with a day ba... moreWhat are you talking about mate?
Battery life is a very subjective thing, and to get anything logical you must be specific. I mean these phones can already do something like 5 days on standby, if that's your benchmark, then we already have it.
Do you mean in video watching? Wifi connection? LTE use? Playing games? Taking photos? Videography? Making calculations?
Most people talk about "average use", but that definition keeps changing. So the goal-posts keepoving, making it impossible to attain.
For instance, the Samsung NOTE 3 was the first phone that was high-end but each component used less energy (display, SoC, LTE) and on top of this it had the largest battery capacity. At this point where most phones were getting 1-1.2 days of "average" battery life the NOTE 3 was getting a solid 2 days. Skip forward to the OnePlus 3, and it's got another good leap in efficiency... yet people struggle to get 2 days of battery life, why's that??
Well, it's because the "average" has changed. Higher resolution in Apps, more frequent connections, larger uploads and downloads, more demanding graphics, and last but not least much more BLOAT (in Apps, Services, and OS).
Hence we need to establish a more representative benchmark, otherwise this conversation is a lost cause.

Hopefully, we'll get more than 2 days regular use for the Mate 20 and the P30 series once released with the Kirin 980 plus more improvements in battery life management on the next EMUI (coupled with the AI on the SoC). No matter how fast an SoC is or how high it scores in Geekbench or Antutu, if the OS and the launcher are bloated and full of crap, all that speed would be wasted. And no matter how fast your SoC is, if you have a mediocre battery size, then you'll end up being a wallhugger.
I don't get how some people can't even get one day's use from their phones. Maybe they're glued to their screen too much (a clear sign of smartphone addiction). Personally, I get around 3 days use on a single charge on my P10. Of course I don't stare at my phone all day (around an hour or less playing some video, a few texts and calls, and one hour or so social media) so that's one reason it lasts longer than normal.

This year's 10nm LPP chipsets are barely an improve... moreI dont think they will be that far away from the current S845.
They will use the same A75 at probably around 3Ghz as power increase dramatically after the 2.5Ghz barrier. They cant go further without add more throttle...
The GPU meanwhile, well, Adreno 630 is already too far away and if previous kirin told us something is that Huawei is not going to add much more cores without sacrifice silicon for the next gen NPU.

It can only... moreNo mobile CPU this generation can maintain their clock after sustained use.
Just look at the S9 scores on anandtech; the S845 throttle as much as the A11, and the Exynos even more.
Short burst are the whole point of mobile devices as these are highly limited on battery.

Anonymous, 08 May 2018Phone with two days battery life with one charge is coming......If a phone, and I mean a decent one, launches with a day battery, then the notch will mean nothing. When I say decent, I'm talking LG V40, Pixel 2 Xl, S9/9+, HTC U12 level great. I am aware that there are others out there, and some of the ones have yet to be released, but you get the idea. Those devices have, or are likely to have great cameras, and generally be classed as flagship level. For me, I am not a fan of Huawei video, or some of the camera performance. Video is nasty. Also noted that a fair few reviews mention issues with app crashes, lacklustre EMUI too.
