Others might be interested in other of the alternatives, with a limited market in them selves.

AND it is quite handy, that you can strip the device down to a slim unit suited for the dinner jacket, and the next day add what ever you need for the day - say a larger battery for more extensive usage.

The very IDEA of the Mods is good, BUT unfortunately it is priced so high that it will never catch to a broader audience, as so few are willing to pay the (over)price for the flexibility, unless they are among the select few that can only get what we are looking for this way. (e.g. a real keyboard that slides away).

And can you please tell me what can mods do that third party accessories can't? I do accept its a great idea and integration is pretty flawless, but it comes at hefty price (450 for phone + 80 for a single mod, It is scary close to budget flagship territory). Might as well buy a phone with bigger battery and a power bank.

AnonD-731400, 12 May 2018hey motorola! we want snapdragon 660 instead weaker 636! an... moreI think you answered your own request. If they had made the "Play" model too powerful it would be too close to the "Force". They are trying to span a wider range of users with two distinct models.

Spec-wise the Z-series are expensive BUT they offer the unique features of the (also expensive) Mods. Offering stuff like extra battery or speakers. (personally I'm eagerly awaiting a parcel with QWERTY slider Mods)
The point being to have a very basic and very slim model when used without the mods.

Think of it as a micro four thirds camera bundled with a simple pancake lens, that you can swap for more advanced usage wishes.

          Z3 ryzen5,
          Z3 force7,
          SSD 512gb, 8gb of RAM
          10000mah
          Turbo charge 5.0
          ROKR bass stereo

There's no reason why this doesn't have a headphone jack and the Z2 Play was thin. The Blackberry Key2 or the Sony Xperia XZ1 will be my next device.

              No headphone jack, no purchase.

Andu, 11 May 2018I actually think it's the best position for it and probably... moreThe best position is under display fingerprint scanner, no extra holes on the back or side of the case as additional flaws and no accidental touches on the side that can let you lose money and problems if you have payment methods enabled in the phone. Being a Z series, sure that flaws on battery and updates, pay the mods plus the overpriced original cost.

Anonymous, 11 May 2018Have a look most HMD line? So much look a like moto x style... moreNot really. Nokia has had the camera+ flash oblong shape design in their Lumia Devices before. Then came Moto 2015 lineup, then it became short pill shape in G series 2016/Moto M, Huawei put the pill shape in Mate 9 etc. Now many dual camera setups use that pill design, and Nokia reverted to the oblong design.

The Motorola logo on lower bezels is unnecessary, the icon at back is enough to know it's Motorola. Would be good if Motorola partnered with OnePlus in porting Oxygen OS to Motorola devices since its an AMOLED display phone to reduce screen burn in.

On the other hand this adds a risk for accidental scans, so approval gets a little too easy. depending on how you hold the device, and how much finger move is required for a scan.

I mean if an approval question pops up, and the scanner can see and scan the finger immediately it might be a bit risky...
