LG has done a good job however some reviews have put doubt over the actual specs. I now need to wait to do my own review. If the low light (1000 nits holds up) LG will get the gig. If not I will go with the Samsung s9.
Apple have destroyed any chance of me buying ANY apple product while they continue insisting on the appleid.
As for the notch, really? People wont buy it because of giving you access to the space that others dont give you? Think on this a bit. It isnt less space on the screen its more space. Those that dont offer the notch are blacking out the whole top of the screen are (ie more Bezel) whereas the notch is just taking out the space for the ear piece (necessary for a phone btw). I dont understand anyone that has a problem with having more space on the screen. You can use it for date/time etc instead of taking out real screen space if you didnt have the notch.
Well done LG. Just would really like to be able to get it now in Australia but dont even know the price yet.

I really looking to finally upgrade my G5, but....
    Top reasons I won't get the G7:
Notch (I don't think I need to explain this one)
Dedicated unreprogrammable hardware AI button (I do not and will not use AI features)
Size (Why do these phones keep getting bigger??)

Even the free TV I could get from pre-ordering here in Canada isn't incentive to overlook those issues, as I have zero use for one.

That said, at least it doesn't have the curves of the latest Samsung devices. (That design is, imo, 10x worse than a notch.)

I don't like any of the current phones on offer for various reasons. I'll have to compromise somewhere when I finally get around to upgrading, though.

Brandstifter, 14 May 2018Unfortunately LG never allows unlocking dual-SIM phones. S... moreI chose LG V20 over V30 and S9+. Why? Because V20 is much better than them. This is the last phone to have removable battery and real smartphone design (no glass back, no curved edges and corners, no notch ...).

MarcioR, 14 May 2018I would chose an S8 over a LG G6 anyday. Same thing i would... morePerhaps S8 is a better phone. But I suspected that both would disappoint me, and with G6 being 1.5x cheaper the disappointment would be easier to bear.

i have to admit i love this phone a lot. but i wont get it because i absolutely wont buy a phone with a notch because to me its a huge compromise. so my friend ill wait for that LG V40 or even the LG V35 as long as they don't have a notch.

I don't like the curved screen as it doesn't give enough grip to the device. Also the fingerprint scanner is hit and miss. I'm excited to get this phone.

Th LG G6 is a good phone but only in the cameras make that phone interesting. It overheats, it has an old SOC and battery life is poor.

Speaking of DAC, I turned it on once, saw the warning about battery life impact and turned it off. The battery life was already poor, and the sound was already fine, so why turn it on?
We can hope that LG will finally start updating their phones thanks to Treble. But that's just hope, and until now they haven't made anything to make me trust them. Not releasing an Android update for their flagship for 9 months sucks. Not even releasing security updates since October sucks even harder.
I chose G6 over S8 back in October and perhaps it was a good decision as it had a wide angle camera and was much cheaper. But I don't see anything that would make me choose G7 (other than the camera, of course).

LG have done a great job and deserve a little bit of credit in my humble opinion... Other phone manufacturers are offering a lot less for a lot more money

In other words, it looks like the Exynos 9810 is a battery dud. Here's what AnandTech's Andrei Frumusanu had to say about the chip:

In a vacuum, the Exynos 9810 could be seen as a good improvement over the Exynos 8895. However Samsung LSI isn't only competing against itself and iterating on its products, it needs to compete against ARM's ever-evolving offers as well. Unfortunately it feels like S.LSI keeps being one generation behind when it comes to efficiency – the A72 beating the M1, the A73 beating the M2 and now the A75 beating the M3.

If you were to shift the microarchitectures one year ahead in Samsung's favour then suddenly we would have had a much better competitive situation. Currently a 17-22% performance lead does not seem worth a 35-58% efficiency disadvantage along with the 2x higher silicon area cost.

To summarize, the chip used in the majority of the world's markets is around 20% faster than its predecessor, but in some cases over 50% less efficient. This isn't theoretical, either:

The Exynos 9810 Galaxy S9 absolutely fell flat on its face in this test and posted the worst results among our tracking of the latest generation devices, lasting 3 hours less than the Exynos 8895 Galaxy S8. This was such a terrible run that I redid the test and still resulted in the same runtime.

                              ''S9 Exynos here.

Second full day (after a half day when I got it) and it's been pretty horrible. I expected it to be average or not great for the first couple days, but this is nuts.

I've got everything on - location, sync, AOD, Bixby, etc - and am losing about 5% per hour with the screen off. Ending the day on 15% with only an hour or two of SOT.

Will be keeping a spreadsheet log of it, including what services are on and how I've used it, so will report back. Hope it improves naturally with everything on though. Reception is also surprisingly average; in the bathroom at work my Pixel 1 had decent enough reception to load videos, but my S9 seems to struggle to even load images. Pixel 1 had 3G in an underground pub, but my S9 couldn't get any data at all.''

i have had many samsungs and they dont deep sleep as much as they should and battery life is roughly 4 -5 hours screen on time , ive never ever had 7 hours screen on time with my samsung devices

all i know is my lgv30 gets about 3 hours more screen on time than my s8 used to , without even trying , while using a quad dac , with the screen bit brighter , it deep sleeps a lot better and doesnt drain the battery as fast when the screen is switched on
