Anonymous, 15 May 20184:3 is rididculous. Literlly nothing uses it. Websites are ... more16:10 and 3:2 are unusable in portrait orientation, as becomes too tall. 4:3 can be used ideally in both orientations. Even video is not that bad. iPad is dominating tablet market for a reason (ergonomics first).
If you need a tablet for movies, that's another question. But only minority watching movies on tablets.

AshesToAshes, 15 May 2018I'd be OK with 3:2 by I'll take 4:3 over 16:10 any day. 16:... moreI'd depens what you use tablet for. For me is multimedia device (photo edit and video watching). I swapped some Galaxy tab A for Galaxy Tab S first gen which is slower but has amazing 2K RGB Super AMOLED 16:10 screen. The best so far for multimedia consumption. And speakers places on sides for watching, not on bottom. The S3 has nice HDR compatible screen, but it's smaller and in 4:3 aspect ratio, much worse for watching videos.

Why doesn't Samsung get on the larger device more powerful specs.
A 10.5 inch tablet should have much faster chip and much more ram than phones. At the very least as powerful.

16:10 is not ideal but certainpy better than 4:3, it is at least good at some use cases (movies, browsing) and doesnt's suck on others (reading).
IMO 3:2 is the ideal. Best for readig, still good enough for movies.
4:3 is ancient, let it be buried, please. Let's hope even ipad would dump it.

Samsung toy, 15 May 2018I rather they release a tablet dock for S8/S9 (dex station)... moreActually. it can be called. "DeX Tab". and it'll work the same as Asus Padfone:
https://www.gsmarena.com/asus_padfone_x-6519.php
Just instead of merely using the SE9.0 interface it'll have DEX interface. (with HDMI out for even LARGER screen, two USB A for keyboard. and USB C. (As well as 3.5mm jack)

Well, although the sales/demand of tablets is definitely not like their retro heyday/s (almost in the abyss). But still (after the absence), Samsung definitely needs a new/latest model to fresh up a bit the things, etc. So hopefully it will be a overall excellent!

Google should improve Chrome OS even more. Now with linux app / android play store app. And multitask desktop version.
That coupled with Samsung's tablet formfactor..
Then iPad will become the only toy left.

Anonymous, 14 May 2018For 600$ it would be a very great deal. I don't understand ... more16:10 would be a flop. Not a popular dimension. 4:3 fits tablets far better. The only problem are that Tab S3 was weaker, more expensive than iPad Pro 2017. battery life was significantly worse and no edge touch protection.

Anonymous, 14 May 2018Samsung still makes Tablets??Mid-low end ones apparently.
Despite being a tablet (bigger screen), lesser res than their phones. Despite being tablet (more multi tasking, more data on the same screen), has less ran than its flagships. Deping bwing a tablet (mre things to process at once), has less SoC.
No, Samsung has given up in tablets. It's all Apple's playground at this point ... writing this from the best tablet ever made (Note 10.1 - 2014). Android with its customizability is ideal for tablets, too bad OEMs didn't realize it allowing Apple to take *all* the profits of this space.

Anonymous, 14 May 2018For 600$ it would be a very great deal. I don't understand ... moreJust look at the specs:
For $50 more you get: way better processor and gpu, way better speakers, 120hz display plus true tone, bigger battery, probably even better camera, better use for the same RAM, more applications adapted to tablet form, more applications that can use the stylus, etc.
And that is for last year model. In October is expected a newer ipad meaning the actual will be at discount in several places, or if you search well, you can get one right now for less.
