Extra power from fla... moreFor the specs, i think £400 is spot on.
As for Google camera, the weakness is u cannot utilized the second camera (it will only use rgb, not the monochrome sensor that can improve contrast and low light images) that can only triggered by stock software, so its a shame u cant use it at maximum satisfaction.

-Yes, the AI is sometimes bad, sometimes it's good. For social media. As is any phone good enough for photos on social media.
-No, a decent phone won't stutter when opening apps.

- Yes Sony introduce the great Superior Auto back then, and yes, huawei AI camera overprocessed image (but not to bad, sometimes u like it, sometimes dont. But when it works, great for media sharing, and if dont like it, just disable Master AI)
- About the sd card slot, nope. If u using lower class sd card yes stuttering will appear when opening apps that have use the sdcard as storage. (album app, etc)
I'm an ex Sony flagship (many generations) user, both got pros and cons, but i find that more pros on huawei's side based on my experience. (XZ2 got great camera, but i turned off by the design)

Extra power from flagship chipsets nowadays are no longer worth the extra price.
The upcoming Mate 20 Lite will remain under $300 and have performance enough to handle basic tasks and even some quite heavy ones.
Heck, even a SD820 level power is already enough.
You're paying for other things like camera, but even the budget phones now have really good ones as well.
Install Google camera and you can now achieve stunning pictures that can easily impress everyone.

-What is AI? The only thing it does is boost the saturation. Sony had the Superior auto mod 5-6 years ago, which did recognize the scene, but really.
- The SD card speed is relevant only when writing to it or reading from it. If the phone can't open an app without stuttering, it's a bad phone, not a slow SD card.

And about the no sd card card slot, they try to makes performance stable as possible. If people using sd card lower than class 10, a bit stutter will appear (which i bet there are people still using lower class sd card). Thats the reason iphone make it at the 1st place.

Waiting for Mate 20 Lite/Nova 3i/Honor 10 with Kirin 659's successor chipset and (hopefully not, but most likely) a notch.

Most people don't care anymore on expanding their storage since iPhone just started that rend and still alive until now. Notch is fine. This is the downgrade version of P20 since it has no Leica cameras.
