      AnonD-576767, 17 May 2018The golden time of rooting and custom os era is over now ... moreI don't see a reason to be cheerful. Custom OS meant extended life for certain devices, as they kept getting unofficial support and security updates way after the official support ended.
      Why should I buy a phone every two years when my current one serves me just fine? That was the cutom roms main power.
      With treble it should be easier though, provided there's a way to unlock bootloader and enough devs work on it.

        On contrary, oppo, that used to be developer friendly has gone with the herd of not allowing it, and seeing how popular devices with locked bootloader are, this won't change anytime soon
        There's also the downfall of cyanogen, and the supposedly spiritual successor, lineageOS, doesn't perform well enough
