      Kiyasuriin, 17 May 2018Frankly... I am excited and disappointed in the same time; ... moreThose who pre-ordered it from Red when it was announced will be getting unlocked 'phones. Jannard has already said the camera will be "best in class" but not "cinema quality" for that you'll have to order the (Still in development) cinema module. I don't yet know whether the module will be able to output .r3d files, I hope so. The 'phone itself won't be able to, it takes too much processer effort.

      I find the 5.7" screen just about perfect for my hands, and it's big enough to use as a sat-nav.

      While the display isn't truly holographic, from what I understand, it's a lot more than simple 3D, with some "look-around" ability.

      We'll know more after the 19th.

            Geric.770, 18 May 2018We can't blame RED for releasing SD 835 because they used i... moreHopographic is a gimmick , no phone or display can project 3D or 4D like starwars, because you need a medium for the light to be reflected on, you simply cannot reflect anything on thin air

              Kiyasuriin, 17 May 2018Frankly... I am excited and disappointed in the same time; ... moreWe can't blame RED for releasing SD 835 because they used it on their prototypes before and MKBHD showed it with its Holographic features.

                They announced the plan to make this phone last year (or was it he year before that). No real working phone in the open (some secret reviewers who Never Shared pics or videos claimed to have seen it), and yet this unnecessary publicity of overdone curiosity.

                If it isn't the greatest phone ever made, they should stop over publicising it. The hype is really overdone.

                  Subsidies?
                  Where have you been? The business model is dead. There might be a pre order insentive. Neither ATT, or Verizon subsidize phones any more.
                  Don't expect advanced calling features.

                      Kiyasuriin, 17 May 2018Frankly... I am excited and disappointed in the same time; ... moreWhat? You're already criticizing the camera? We don't even know how it performs. It would be safe to say that it will perform much better than the competition as this brand is camera centralized, but we still have to see.

                        Frankly... I am excited and disappointed in the same time;
                        excited:
                        -FIRST EVER HOLOGRAPHIC PHONE! (yay! ^^)
                        -on paper: great camera. (not spectacular. but I can't blame'em)
                        -STILL HAS 3.5mm jack! (WOOHOO! ^o^)
                        Disappointed:
                        Rather Outdated specs;
                        I mean, 835? this is so 2017! give it for 845 chipset!
                        -Screen size: I blubbered already. but can't phones SHRINK for once without compromising on specs? :/
                        -price; I understand that the RED Hydrogen phone has the FIRST EVER components to project holographic. but 1350$ is overpriced. I'd pay tops 950$ for this thing.
                        availability: OTHERS than 'murika want to enjoy this product... it infuriates me that it is availale only on certain markets and not others.

                          Considering the price are pretty expansive that one would go for a digital camera and flagship of current Brand ( example : oneplus 6), it would be still cheaper.

                          It's probably a good move to sell them via carries, but would anyone(regular users that we're talking about) wanted to get one? Cause if they're selling it for the same price as the company asking for in their own website, then the carries are most likely be asking for down payment and a high monthly payment as well!
