Pretty decent specs. No notch is good. Let see how they price it.

Uh... well I dunno about you, but you can still listen to great mobile audio with digital audio players (DAP) from brands like Astell&Kern, Fiio & Sony or connecting an external, portable dac/amp onto your smartphone via USB like the Oppo HA-2, Chord Mojo & Fiio Q5 just to name a few...

Meizupro6plus, 17 May 2018Congratulations, you are the perfect consumer...From the co... morewell, i've both htc 11 and htc 10 also. I agree that the adaptor provided with htc u11 is crap. but the earphones provided with the htc 11 are far superior to the ones provided with the htc 10. they are not equivalent to a 10-20 earphones. i've from 30 to 400 euros earphones and they are about equivalent to a 80-120 earphones. they are good enough to me to stop using my 4 driver earphones in my htc 10 to start using them. they are inferior ofc, but to walk they are good enough...you will have much noise around, including from cable to worry about the quality. in-house i have better gear listen to music. if you care about music you don't listen to music from a smartphone, period. it's nice to have a good alternative to day to day base, that's true..that's why i chose htc phones.

All should notice: Notched phones would sell well this year.
So, it is better to follow the trend. XD

Anonymous, 18 May 2018I love HTC too, but this is clearly not true. 32bit DAC... moreif you know anything about DACs, you understand that 24 vs 32Bits DACs are a useless debate. The ability to drive low impedance headphones, preserve a low noise floor from the DAC to the jack, and offer minimal distortion is much more important characteristics for smartphone audio than the theoretically supported bit-depth or sample rate.
Saying this...who cares about sound quality don't listen to music from a smartphone...only when are in the moving..and in that scenario, there are too many noises in the background to fully enjoy it.

Anonymous, 18 May 2018Are y'all srsly blind? Can't you see the LDAC 32-bit Bluet... moreI love HTC too, but this is clearly not true.

32bit DACs don't make your listening quality better. If you're streaming via Spofity/Apple music, you won't hear any difference from a non "audiophile" smartphone. Streaming via TIDAL will make a difference, but they're 16bit lossless audio. In fact, 24/32bit "Hi-Res" audio is misleading and a bit on a con job.

CD quality audio (16bit/44.1khz) is more than enough for human hearing. Many tests have been conducted for years now since the invention of digital audio to prove this. Your personal music collection also must be saved under uncompressed, lossless file formats like ".flac", ".m4a" or ".wav" and NOT ".mp3" or ".ogg" before you can even hear a difference.

Audio chain works like so: high quality uncompress audio files (flacs) -> 16-bit DAC/soundcard -> Headphone amplifier (VERY important as this makes or break your audio quality. MOST phones don't have enough of this) -> high quality headphones/earphones

Alien , 18 May 2018As a Sony user I would happily give up that DAC or whatever... moreYou're clearly alien to HTC audio quality, and I don't care about Sony...

So you yourself who needs to stfu!

As a Sony user I would happily give up that DAC or whatever it's called for a 3.5mm jack..
                            Who cares if it's 16, 24 or 32? I know I don't give a fly..
And if you really are an audiophile, stfu because if you don't have at least a mini amplifier, you my friend have nothing in common with audiophiles. Period.
Last time I checked you can't connect mini amplifiers to phones via USB OTG. I tried with mine but there's not enough power for it.
Funk you and your cancer causing Bluetooth headphones!
If a phone lacks the sd card slot, the 3.5mm jack and waterproofing, I'm suddenly not interested anymore, no matter what brand or model it may be.. I couldn't care less if it's iPhone 50 or it has 20 GB RAM.
Also, the camera is the last thing I care about in a phone - I never use it.

                            Conclusion : NO 3.5mm jack = Garbage => NEXT!

Can't you see the LDAC 32-bit Bluetooth audio codec?
Most phones have 16 or 24-bit DACs.
Why would you want poor audio quality, just to have that 3.5mm jack?

Anyway, im glad it has an edge to edge 18:9 display without rounded corners and without a notch.
                              Just as it should be.
It looks way more professional than the others.

Most phones have less than average quality DACs, but HTC was nice enough to include 32-bit Bluetooth audio streaming.
Other than Samsung, LG and Vivo, nobody else has a 32-bit DAC. (Maybe a few others, but i dunno. Most phone have 16-bit or 24-bit DACs, which imo are not quite acceptable anymore for 2018)

Why would you need a mediocre DAC, just for the sake of having a headphone jack, when you can have 32-bit audio streaming through bluetooth?
And also it has stereo speakers and dual cameras on both sides.
