      The margin per mobile device for Samsung is very minute compared to Apple for example. How many extra devices do they have to sell to cover R&D and new product development. You might be impressed with Samsung and be very anti Apple but who has the balance sheet and loyalty. Certainly not Samsung. If they take a hit on patents, they will be in serious trouble as they cannot churn their financial facilities just by selling TV's. It is a very dangerous strategy for them.

            May i point out at this time that smart phone shipment is not smart phone sales. Samsung may just hav a large bulk of their phones laying idel in ware houses or dust in front of show stands due to outragious price. Nokia may not ship that many phones but will sale more. Nokia is king of smartphone sale due to their affodable price and build quality

              AnonD-1825, 09 Sep 2011iPhone won customer satisfaction again! sixth? time a row! ... moreThat's just because apple customers don't expect much from their devices. They're ignorant of the latest technology. Everybody knows that apple customers are "Hi, I don't know a shit about technology but I wanna show off that I have a lot of money so I can be considered as cool." stupid, apart from 'em ofc!

                      I think you inadvertently stated that Nokia is still at top when smartphones and feature phones get combined. By looking at the table, Nokia was at top in 2010 with 37% share. Currently (in 2011) Samsung is at top with 33% share.

                          The vision is in Apple. There is no doubt... it brought the tech revolution we are living in.

                          Now HTC,Samsung and Nokia (what a great disappointment this one) please wait for the iPhone 5.... and then start copying and reverse engineering... stay in line pls :). Then you have 1 more year to copy it... and produce 100+ phones until the iPhone 6 comes out.

                          Apple from 2007 - 2011 -> 5 models (FIVE!!!) (One PER year!!!)

                          And the rest???? 20?50?70? in 1 year???? lol
