Even the regular homepod was found to have worse AI features (or worse digital assistant anyway) with siri and worse sound quality compared to competition in the blind tests. Apple make solid stuff at high prices and some good stuff (regular ipad and airpods) at not so expensive prices when compared to competing products. I worry about this venture though if it's a new half price product that they didn't manage to do special themselves anyway. This is gonna be one of their failure products.

What kills me is Apple already owns beats, and already makes stereo wireless speakers for less than $199, and they can connect to any iOS, Android, Windows, or Linux devices. Which ultimately you can play anything on their existing speakers. However if Apple uses Siri, and only allows Airplay. Then it's just as bad as the HomePod, only it will be slightly cheaper.
Oh great, a dumb sibling of the Homewood, or Homepod.

An entry level soc is more than enough...with addition of a dedicated DAC for audio.
Many products use Mediatek without people noticed.
Amazon Echo 2nd generation for exemple (quad A53 mt8163 that is more powerfull than Marvell's quad A7 in Google Home Max)
Many Sony or Philips TV...
Many high-end Bluray Players...even Cambridge Audio uses Mediatek.

Affordable price? Maybe a 1000 eur.
For apple is normal to sell a new phone made in plastic with weak processor and GPU for 800.
So if they say affordable they mean close to 1000 but not more than 1000 :-)
