as long as alexa, google, cortana and co. is registering everything you say or do, and sends the info to his masters, there are no privacy. lets's be frank: there is no way to know what they are dooing with data. if they are caught, they can blame it on hackers or russians

I hate the EU and all its institutions but I refuse to bash each and everything that is implemented.

Another day in EU to kill a simple life of EU citizens by releasing a law that make a single day of a citizen much more difficult.
They just cant mind own bussiness.

I'm one of the lucky guys, who lives in EU and i extremely appreciate the new GDPR. the funny thing is, that I'm a web developer and we have a big problem at work atm because of new law haha. But finally governments did something positive for normal citizens and not only for rich people. I'm happy that GSMArena can't push me to use my Facebook account (what i don't have and hell no will never create one under any condition) or my Gmail (what is for my way to private only be able of marking some phones as favorite or having a nickname). thanks EU for pushing companies to get their finger outta our @rses and stop spying our daily life every second (don't be naive they still do what they want but at least if you can prove it you can get a lot of money after lawsuit ;)

Anonymous, 25 May 2018Who cares about companies? User it's number one.It have lots to do with users because companies have to somehow balance this cost, and guess how they gonna do that? Imagine that some company have millions of users with their private data, they now need to change their rules and systems of dealing with those data, it cost millions, go to any law or IT forum and look how many problems smaller companies have that dont have so much users, they need to pay for it all, and if we talk about bigger companies it double the costs, and those cost will be compensated by users wallets.
Even if its one-time event to change system, companies will have another excuse to rase cost of their ""user experience"".

GDPR is a big mess of some vague almost like suggestions points, that are not specific at all, they say that it will bring big saving every year, but just for last year, companies lost millions on changing their systems to fit new law, mostly because its written in really bad way where almost everyone had to really think about how to deal with it, even small private sites and forums have problems because in one way GDPR say that its about user data(names etc) but in other way it dont say peculiarly what about just nicknames, does nickname apply as personal data?
Its a big mess law that is there to just milk money from bigger companies that dont apply to it, because EU will get HUGE money even from smaller local companies that dont fit their user database to new law.

I see the location encodes are missing the 4th character now. Is that also due to GDPR compliance and a less granular approach to collecting IP information, or is that entirely unrelated?
