Custom ROM, 24 May 2018Caffeine on Pure Nexus :)Not really. Caffeine is a toggle in the quick toggles to set the phone to not sleep for X amount of minutes and you have to set it every time you want to keep it wake and after that time it turns off. Unless Caffeine has been updated since I've used it to support fingerprint sensor to keep the phone awake and does not require setting up every time.

Am I the only one who thinks this is stupid? I mean, come on ... how lazy can you be if it is that hard to touch the screen, or to set the screen-off timer to a bigger time? I use my fingerprint sensor to lock my phone, not to keep it unlocked.

Is this really a new feature in Android P..!
I am using the same feature in my Redmi Note 3 running custom ROM (AOSPE 7.1.2) and I do remember it was there in MIUI 9.5 (Android 6.0) as well (not sure.. I was moved from MIUI quite a time now..)

This is a good idea for those who don't like to touch their touchscreen to keep it on lol but either way it'll be helpful one way or another depending on how you're holding your phone.

I've never faced this. I just don't find screen turning off barely after a minute ever useful, hence the first thing I do after receiving a new phone is extending the time to at least 5 minutes.

Or having to really touch anything. It just works. That's the way it should be implemented in stock Android.

Just appreciate its on stock android feature now. No need to brag about your old phones. Nobody got time to hear about what your old phone can do.

Sony has also already had this for generations as "Smart Backlight Control". It uses the sensors to detect if the user is looking at the device and keeps it awake.

And guess what u don't need to touch any damn thing. It just detects if you are looking at the screen using front cam .. lol .. another typical example that Stock android is ages behind and boring than other android versions.

set time out to 3-10 minutes instead of one, whats the point of setting it so short if you read so long... its available in settings. Though this could be done with touch sensors where you hold a phone, like on bended screen edge, that got touch for control disabled.

Isnt their a setting to where you can set the timer on when the screen turns off if your not doing anything with it? why not just increase the time on that?

Is that really deserving of news? One would expect any interaction with the phone to reset the screen off timer but even if it didnt before, why not just touch the screen, you dont have to scroll.
