The pathetic notch haters may dominate the gsmarena and internet. But they are minority outside gsmarena and internet. Smartphone makers must already have conducted market research before.

Based on the schematic drawing I'm super excited for the Pixel 3 (NOT the XL). I don't mind a bit of a a chin at all, it gives top/bottom symmetry and gives you a better place to grip the phone in landscape mode.
These numbers are garbage since I HIGHLY suspect the renderings are wrong but I might as well play. Assuming the Pixel 3 XL is still a 6" 18:9 screen (ratio checks out on the schematic) and the schematics are accurately scaled, then the Pixel 3 could have a 5.3" 16:9 screen*. The dimensions would be approx 135.4x67.1 mm (5.33x2.64 in) which is only marginally narrower than last years but a full centimeter shorter than the Pixel 2 (at 145.7x69.7 mm / 5.7x2.7 mm), or approximately the same size as the XZ2 Compact but with a larger screen.
* It does seem weird to have rounded corners on a 16:9 screen. I am wondering about that detail in particular. Hopefully it won't have them unless it actually has an 18:9 screen and the schematic is just rendered too wide. If that is the case, and assuming the height is correct the screen would be ~5.1" at 18:9 and the width reduces to 2.4". Which would be GREAT for me.

This is gonna be the first time that I will be considering the smaller Pixel over the XL version. Like they could've just improve the design of the Pixel 2 and 2 XL A LOT. I hope that this "Notch Era" dies soon.

Why do people care so much about notch? You are getting bigger screens!
At the moment most of the phones have top bazel with all sensors, camera and also black line on the screen with battery info, notifications etc.. since most of people using phones for social media and internet, that's a wasted screen space. With notch at least you can get same size phone with bigger screen size.

Notch or not notch still an ugly design. I can't believe a company like Google with the amount of money and resources will follow the notch trend. Come on Google be unique look at Lenovo Z5 and Vivo Apex.

that thing had a horrible run with issues.
Sad to see it get the notch treatment though.
