Vegetaholic, 03 Jun 2018Please just don't be naive, there is single chance a camera... moreTheir profit margin is 5%. They make money from MIUI and such

Please just don't be naive, there is single chance a camera is better than any other mega companies flagship like S9+ it's not even close. Marketing hype. You can't put best camera in a price range of 400 to 500 euro, unless Xiaomi is thinking to produce phones without profit? Be logical guys and don't trust marketing

Samsung fans will quietly move to Xiaomi and pretend they were never Samsung fanboys, after all, they did the same when they moved to Samsung.

Anonymous, 02 Jun 2018Agreed on this. DXOMArk is never a Gold Standard in Mobile ... moreYes, DXOmark mobile's scoring system makes it appear like they are some sort of reliable, 'photo quality' benchmark scoring site - just like Antutu benchmark for hardware. The dubious 'photo quality' benchmark scores Dxomark mobile releases for every phone they test has gained the attention of Apple, Google, Samsung and Huawei , so much so that these big companies actually use the DXOmark photo quality 'benchmark' score as proof they have the best camera in their phones that produce the best image quality. These big companies even highlight the Dxomark mobile scores in product presentations and product launches as a selling point to the public, targetting the Facebook/Instagram/camera obsessed crowd. And the fakery doesn't stop there. The DXOmark mobile benchmark scores keep on increasing dramatically as if there truly is significant photo quality improvement among flagship phones from one month to the next month as newer flagship models get released month after month. Naive buyers are fooled into believing that the ever increasing DXOmark mobile scores means somehow smartphone camera image quality are improving at breakneck speeds and somehow have outpaced DSLR camera image quality improvements, when in fact, it is just addition of a secondary telephoto camera or a fake bokeh effect in the smartphone that increased the DXOmark mobile 'benchmark' score/rating, which have absolutely nothing to do with real photo or image quality improvement especially in difficult indoor, or low light situations where many social media photos are captured. In short, everyone serious about smartphone photography should never base purchasing decisions on fake 'benchmark' scores constantly churned out by DXOmark mobile. You are better served by Gsmarena's photo compare tool.

Who cares. What I do care is that today it's really hard to buy a mid or high end phone with crappy camera. They all make great photos. In the past you could buy a high end phone and it made mediocre photos. No such thing anymore. And I hope Xiaomi keeps their low prices. It's their main thing along with high end hardware and feature loaded OS.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2018For once, stop trusting Dxomark mobile's ratings and rankin... moreAgreed on this. DXOMArk is never a Gold Standard in Mobile Photography tests due to their very own inconsistencies. What's keeping the HYPE is the score race like chipset benchmarks before, and clueless people (many are) are buying it. A serious and photography inclined person will not base its judgement on tests which prove to be inconsistent, baseless and no standards. Real Talk.

Good points. Gsmarena and its readers talk a lot about DxOMark, but at the end of the day DxOMark are really nobodies. Most people out there don't know them, just like they don't know Mediatek and Qualcomm.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2018For once, stop trusting Dxomark mobile's ratings and rankin... moreYes, you are very correct. But I still doubt dxomark getting paid. If I'm a manufacturer I wont waste my money to pay a dubious test like dxomark. Not worth it. I would instead exposed them and tell everyone their test is not well controlled and unreliable. Words like that from multiple big companies can easily shut down dxomark instead of them slaving themselves to pay dxomark for sake of a good reputation. Gsmarena compare tool is hundred times better.

So, the way how I see it right now all the manufacturers dont give a single f*** about dxomark. Dxomark is just a piece of dust for them. Let them keep doing their stupid camera test and we should turn a blind eye.

Luxor, 01 Jun 2018Yet people still think Dxomark getting paid. Seriously? You... moreFor once, stop trusting Dxomark mobile's ratings and rankings. Their rating and ranking system are at best dubious. They keep on changing criteria and weighting methods and none of their tests use the exact same controlled laboratory scenes from one phone brand being tested to another or next phone brand they will be testing. They keep on changing scenes and protocols to avoid direct side by side comparisons among all the phones they have ever tested. Try using Gsmarena's photo compare tool and you'll see just how skewed DXOmark mobile's rating and ranking system really is. That's what you get when there is conflict of interest. The DXOmark criticism here has nothing to do with the phone brands that top. It's about DXOmark mobile's unconscionable rating/ranking system that puts sponsors on top alternating from one brand sponsor to another brand sponsor.
