Samsung is also the number one smartphone manufacturer with Apple in closer second. The value drops indeed to give the idea of a deal, but that's a way to sell more phones obviously. It's a pretty clever business decision.

Samsung flagships less than 6 months old are being sold 20-30% off release price. Samsung is obviously inflating their release prices and dropping it quickly to give a false sense of a “deal”.

Sure you pay for brand name, but the Note lineup has always been the best Samsung has to offer. No other phone integrates the stylus that well, the screen is just gorgeous, you get a lot out of the box, and tons of other features. It's alright if you don't wanna spend that much money, totally understandable. But it is A Samsung phone after all, it's meant to face of against the newest iPhone and try to beat it. That's why it's priced up there with it.

I'm under the impression you've stated the phone with 2 SIMs won't work with a single one. My phone has 2 SIMs and half year I used only one, now I'm using 2 SIMs with 2 providers.
