PNY unveils 512 GB microSD, will show it off at Computex

01 June 2018
It's not the first microSD card of this capacity, but hopefully some competition in the field will help bring the prices down.

Personally I'm doing fine with my 128GB card but I can definitely see the usefulness of a much bigger card. The same goes on PC. Some people buys 12TB drives while most are happy with much less than 4TB.
By the way, the weight ratio between a MicroSD card and a typical 3.5 inch drive is more like 1:1,500. :)

I think 64 GB or 128GB is enough for phones and backup the data whenever it is possible because SD cards can be corrupted easily.

Majority of the user buys 64GB microSD card for their phone.

BTW 4 TB HDD is more like 30 times heavier than SD card.

By comparing these two devices, are you saying that you would consider carring a 4TB external HDD attached to your phone to store your personal data?
If you answered no to any or all of these questions, then why waste data being stored on a server's HDD somewhere with your comment??? You could have said it out aloud "externally" and probably saved yourself about "1/3" of your time.

4TB External HDD costs 1/3 of this SD Card.

Things that is of value, and things that can't be rescued when the sd card crashes. That's why the sd card isn't important, but internal storage is. But again, if you are using your phone as computer while working with videos and pictures, then slow sf cards are even more useless.

They're mostly for personal data like pictures, documents, videos, musics, etc., And they all barely need a very fast read and write speed.
What we need is a higher class SD Card to be able to save higher quality pictures, videos, musics, etc.
And it also makes those personal info safe, because whenever the phone gets a problem, you would feel safe since all the important stuff that you have in the phone are all saved in the memory card.
That's why I never consider phones with no SD Card slot. They're risky when it comes to handling all my personal stuff.

PNY is faster than my old Sandisk

If only Samsung makes 512 GB SDXCs too. :D

Nice, I've been waiting for Sammy to out a 500GB card as Sandisk made their 400GB one. I wish they included faster write speeds tho. I need a write of say 150MB/s on a SD card. forget read speeds as long as they're 10 to 20MB/s faster than write.
