Google now offers free Wi-Fi in 400 train stations in India

The project currently reaches 8 million users monthly and will keep expanding away from stations.

You can also choose unlimited calls and sms but just within its network with no data. Either way it is totally useless.

Urban areas are efficient and then the less populated areas can be made into forests. I do not see the point of people living in villages and then asking for equal chances as urban areas.

If people can work and earn money, they should pay for things including water. How else will water supply companies survive? Do their employees get no salary? And given so few people pay tax in India, the govt can't really dole out free water

              Correction: Google now sucks up 8 million people's data in India for free. I can't understand why the Indian government would allow this, instead of requiring an Indian operator/manufacturer to supply the service.

                In railway stations servics are very poor. You can connect but cant browse. I travel across contry via rail not a single station providing this free wi fi facality. Even better provide free water. If you can. No need of data its already free in india.

                  Also it will boost internet economy in your country..
                  some will fall..because of getting spoiled..
                  but Impact will be net positive...as it will help also in education..

                    Google don't really provide free internet, its Indian Railways wired high speed fiber. Google is just installing wifi routers and making it accessible to general public via phone number

                        Hi Google, why train stations and why India is your choice.
                        How about some countries in Africa for example.

                          Internet connectivity is needed more in rural areas ,and it should be free for the villagers who can't afford it ,all these railway stations are located in urban areas we already have cheaper 4g data plans after jio providing unlimited internet,I don't know what's the point they are trying to prove ,

                              SKR..., 08 Jun 2018After the introduction of Jio it's kinda useless! Your country is great... Shame my country Indonesia Rp.13.000 ($1) we only get 1GB data for 7 days only not unlimited.. just for internet.. not SMS and calling

                                We dont need this.... we already have dirt cheap 4g speeds... for inr399 we get 1.5gb 4g data PER DAY for 84 days with unlimited calling and sms....

                                  After the introduction of Jio it's kinda useless!
