AR, 11 Jun 2018Most exciting is AR. I am waiting for the future of iPho... moreAR is overhyped and overrated useless feature, VR is definitely more immersive and better and it's is future not AR

Nothing is really exciting about iOS overall, Android is still the only operating system which does everything, but good to know they improving performance and shows more about your battery health and usage, iOS is famous for getting very sluggish on older devices, so I hope to see some improvements

              Most exciting is AR.

I am waiting for the future of iPhones. Whereby there is no screen, no cameras, just a rectangle brick with massive battery and powerful cpu / wireless functions. Couple with Apple Glasses (if thats what they want to call it), you can overlay AR display on anything. Virtual AR pets.. AR furniture.. only you and anyone owning those glasses can see. Returning home.. your Mac will take over AR.. and you can work on a AR desktop environment.. typing on a AR keyboard / mouse whateva.

By that time.. notches.. chins.. bezels .. full screen display.. how cool a phone looks.. will all be dust.

Carplay now support third party navs.
                Phone is faster.
Shortcuts app like automator on Macs.
                Extended continuity with Macs.
AR multiplayer. (This most likely is the birth of AR glasses)

Perhaps iOS is just not for you, not that it is a bad OS. Don't make yourself suffer. Just go over to Android or other OS if those work for you. If you want to be get left out, just get a Window Phone.

It is a power horse or hungry horse? Anyway I vote Performance.

That it won't be as piss poor as iOS 11.

AnonD-731363, 10 Jun 2018Well man android is stable. If app causes a crash its pro... moreIt is the developers' fault, mostly at least. But think of it this way: Android is a platform with many devices, ranging from the small number of 4.1 jellybeans out there to the 8.1. And SoCs and OEM customizations differ vastly.
When asking a dev to make an app for a wide user base such as this, problems are bound to happen.
iOS has less segmentation, and compatibility is easily tested.

Anonymous, 10 Jun 2018My iPhone 7 looks and feels very different compared to iPho... moreIn my family the younger ones buy Android mid range phones that cost a third of the cheapest iPhone, renewing them every 2-4 years depending of the model and all are very happy with their phones. So even if you can't afford change every year it's a matter of choose what you can buy and prefer. Even if it's only a matter of money Android have cheaper alternatives and let your renew them more often too due to the cheaper cost. The difference will be in the support, so if that if what you want it's ok.

Asking my cousins and nephews, they have told me that they prefer to renew every few years than having an older phone with support. And if possible, a medium range every two years above an iPhone every 4-5. Those who renew this year are very happy, because today with an SD636-SD660-SD710 or P60 you get a good SoC only for $200 - $300 with all the features they want, you have plenty to choose from.

regs, 10 Jun 2018Well, all of those are far better on my 3,5-year old iPad A... moreI don't really care for your device, I care for mine. Which is buggy, slow iPad Pro with laughable battery life compared to when it run on iOS 10.

iOS is simply the world's worst computer OS of any kind. Sadly, this informarion is not available anywhere. Every reviewer seems to be too spooked to call it out loud and clear. I found out only after actually buying an iPhone :(

So we got another sheep here just reading the headlines and making its own story of it. I explained it probably a 1000 times. I will try to keep it short
                                    - batteries wear over time. If too old and bad, they bring unexpected shutdowns under load. It's not specific to Apple, I bought an Xperia Z1 Compact with bad battery which shut down when playing games or updating apps
                                    - apple automatically throttled iPhones from 6 and up to prevent this from happening
                                    - that is a good thing because a slow phone is better than a phone not running at all
                                    - BUT they didn't talk about it before implementing it so people thought they were slowing down old phones to make people buy a new phone
                                    - if people want unexpected shutdowns with a bad battery, they can turn it on in the settings since iOS 11.3, which is an absolutely crazy thing to do. You could also just change the battery and be happy for the next few years.
On top of all that, iOS 12 is making old iPhones actually faster, although it adds more features. And it now supports the 5s for its 6th year. I don't think this seems like they are "slowing down old iPhones to make customers buy new ones"

If it is fun for you to spend money on a new phone every year, the long software support doesn't matter to you. I still go to school, so I can't just spend € 800 on a phone every year. That's why I think I can save much money and still have fun by buying the newest iPhone every 5 years and use betas and keep it until it is unsupported. With an Android, I had to buy a new phone every 2 years to experience this, which is expensive as those also loose most of their value in 2 years.
