You can't fully disable without root, and with Google integrating them more and more into the system it might be a problem to do so later.

I like third party apps that don't ask for my location just to view a picture of write a message.

                              And what about improve the quality of the sensors? It doesn't matter how beautiful is the app and tricks it has if then the photos are mediocre or even worse.
