Makes sense,

now that I look ok at it again I would defo enable to hide, but at the same time it would still use all the screen instead of extra lower frame due to notification.

So I guess notches arent so bad, but as long as you can hide it like its made by nokia. And of course it stays permanent like that regardles of the application on screen.


Guess I will reconsider this phone in the near future.

          It helps make device follow latest design trend and look fresh/new .

          The option is for those who don't like it.. So you win most of the market

          And when you disable it , it makes the device look symmetrical because of black border, looks good while also giving you extra screen space for displaying clock, battery, network etc.. This option to me is much better than having bezzels if the black colour is deep and good enough to give the illusion that it is a part of bezzel, making it look symmetrical while giving extra screen space..
          best of both worlds

            I hope the next update will remove the notch permanently.

              I was on the fence about notches but now I see same thing without it, I prefer no notch. I can focus on the screen without attention being drawn to something hanging their. Oh well...

                I like this phone for its thickness, look and smoothness. Some say muscle phone. Just a pleasing look. Missing notification lights throughout the range though.

                  So whats the purpose of having revolutionary notch?
                  Apple have 3D face scener on it. What nokia and other chinese phone have?

                            I think it's in your perspective of getting updates and not with build quality as LG have pretty solid build quality. My mom have something LG Leon and it have survived over 3 years for her without any problems. Yes it's plastic but who cares. Everything dont need to be made out of metal so that it feels more solid in hand

                                      I don't think you get it. The phone has a notch. The user can show it. The user can hide it. The user has the freedom to make the choice.

                                      (compare to Apple, who make the choices for you.)

                                        I love this phone. It's just about as wide as my beloved ex-Nexus 4 and OnePlus X.
                                        Which basically means that you can use the phone properly with one hand unlike ALL the 5.5" hogs that require 2 hands.

                                        Hope it comes to India soon.
