At least it gives each brand a identity of their own, not like current smartphones where everything including the bezels and the design are more or less the same...

          Nobody care the added on weights and widths.

            I just gone with a simple recolor. Costed me 50$, but I'm happy with my white S9

However that's the kind of purchase that clearly says you do not care at all about money. I would not say the same about a luxury car, which has more than gold to show as luxurious, or to the limit a mansion, which also serves a purpose other than showing you have money.

                And yes, modern era phones are mostly boring slabs (with notches for 70% of them)

Maybe it's the want to have something that stands out from the crowd, something interesting in the sea of solid color smartphones we have today. Hell it might be even what you say. My point is that you shouldn't dismiss every rich person as snobby or spoiled. Some are genuinely nice and most work hard at their job. They just have the means to treat themselves.

                        The text engraved on the bottom lowers the "premium" feeling, literally obliterating it. Even their logo looks cheap.

                        But who am I to judge. Maybe rich dudes like that kind of stuff, enough to shell out a month's salary of a hard working minimal wage person, just to rub it on the said person's face
