In the latest series of Homeland, Carrie Matheson target is unconscious.

Carrie Matheson opens his iPhone by pressing his finger against the fingerprint scanner

Whilst I don't fully understand what greykey is surely more information is gained from the sim card, who he/ she has called and the websites visited, anything else is just media, is the iPhone being used as an encrypted USB

Face id and fingerprint offer speed but with the open with ease if incapacitated

Password opening is the best, Windows phone increases the refresh time for each unsuccessful attempt after 5, so two minutes, then 5 minutes, then 10 etc.

Blackberry have 10 unsuccessful limit before the phone is completely wiped, again more valuable information is the sim card

George T., 15 Jun 2018"Apple has taken a stance against law agencies to safeguard... morePrivate data is private data and nobody should be able to access it. Just like the data and memories inside your brain. Nobody has the rights and nobody should have the rights to access those. (not even after one's death)

By your logic, governments should have the means and be allowed to hack their way into someone's brain and see what they are/were thinking all their lives. And all this in order to "catch drug dealers, criminals, and terrorists". And the same with personal and private data, right?
Although this might have the potential to make catching the above criminal easier, it would also open the gates of reading anyone's minds and see what they are really thinking. You know all those white lies you tell people just to make them feel better about themselves? You know all the thoughts you might have about a specific issue or someone? Like really hate someone or something or whatever? All your opinions that you keep inside your head? Well, everything will be made easily accessible to the government (and implicitly other parties as well) in case something like this existed.

Private data should remain private and should not be accessed by anyone else other than the owner of it, be it private data in your head, or private data stored digitally.
If you can't prevent and can't catch criminals without getting access to their data, you are not doing a good job at all.
