I hope that Apple will still keep a niche for us who love compact things contrary to a 'brick' in your hand. Pls, don't disappoint us by jumping on the bandwagon and manufacture all of these 7 inch approaching whoppers.There are still ppl who need compact things with good specs for basic things, not computers called smartphones.

I did not exopected it either and by the way apple will make only a bigger phones but with same small shittyy battery as usualy charging several hours.

I'm sure there a sizeable section of the market who desire flagship specs in a small footprint. If not, then Sony would have continued making compact phones with mid-range specs after releasing the Xperia X Compact.
For a long time, only Sony and Apple made flagship grade phones in a compact body but with this move, it looks like Sony will soon be the only player in that market segment.

Apple finally moving away from small phone. 4.7" phone super irrelevant imho. When competition keep getting bigger they have to do the same. Not to liken iphone with android but that is where the trend going and people are loving it. Look at how much iphone fans love the big size iphone x. Most new smartphone releases are not far from 6inch size. I think all new iphone might adapt the notch this year. They should. Sick of seeing same design every single year. Need to up the game now in 2018. Another question is what aspect ratio will they adopt for new iphones. Will Apple surrender to 18:9 trend or doing their own thing or keeping 16:9 display.

It's so sad that apple has cancelled the iphone SE 2. I bought an Iphone SE because of its small size and not because of its low price and I was loooking forward to the release of the Iphone SE 2 as my 2nd phone

Due to small hands, still waiting for a "bezel-less" iPhone with a maximum width of 68mm, else I am sticking with iPhone SE & iPhone 6 for another 1-2 years, after a fresh battery pack & clean restore, performance is good as new...

That's why tablets are being sick men and dying. Soon phones are becoming tablets, no difference at all. And in 2020 or later phones will probably be as wide as the smallest netbook screen.

I think more people buy the SE for its size than for its price; I now that was the case with me. So, if Apple makes a premium 4.5" phone and charge a premium price for it, people would buy it! It would be dumb to kill the small phone altogether imo.

I think iphone user need to admit that 4" phone is not make sense anymore. The sales number is just too low to support it. Perhaps the iphone with 4.7" size could be the smallest size that still sell well.
Apple need to move on to 6"+ (like galaxy S9+ or galaxy note 8) at the highest specs, down to 5" size for the smallest size for 2018.

i was waiting for a SE2 coz my SE is 2 yrs old and serve me well, never did i restart it because of hang or lag, in its timeframe it did lag few times but not more than 10 times and its just a little lag and im a heavy user, truly a pwerful small device never regret of buying it

It's why it sat at 16gb for so long; it does the basics right, it's small if you also carry a personal phone and they are easy to use. The low price is a bonus but the bulk of the firms I've seen using them would pay more than this to keep in the ios eco-system and benefit from employees being less of a 'product' than they could become with other makes
