I wonder how they cope with heating problems if its get that fast.
I wonder about the price.
I dont personaly think it will beat A1 Bionic and its successor.
And i dont personaly think a chip like that will be usefull anywhere in present era we havent gadgets that can fully use the power of SD845 or Kirin 970. No games no graphic programs nothing where CPU like this will be 100% effective.
Maybe they should make something where we can really use CPPU like this then make a CPU for this.
Its same like Predator X21 most powerfull laptop ever made but there are no games that will have difficualities to run even on maximum resolution and details set to ultra elite.

I'm using a P10 and so far it has zero lag even after update to Oreo. Battery life is still very good with about 6hrs SoT with use of Apps that use WiFi or data, 8+ hours if I set it to battery saving mode.

Depends on what they define as "twice as powerful".
If they simply improve the latency, and use a memory related benchmark then they could achieve a "Doubling" without actually using a more powerful SoC. That's probably the easiest way. And if they increase core counts by two, that's also a cheat/easy way. Or alter the frequency. The hardest is to get IPC increases.
I'd think its a probably bit of all:
+20% improvement in memory latency
+10% increase of IPC with Cortex A75/A55 microarchitecture
+25% increase of frequency
+50% increase in cores with 6x A75+A55 x2 versus 4x A73+A53 x4.
Total improvement roughly +105%, hence a "doubling" !!!
This type of improvements are far cry from what Apple does in their expensive SoC's, which are true real-world improvements in performance (ie mostly IPC, then frequency, then latency, then core count).

So we may be looking at Kirin 1020 to be released for the P Series phones.
With phones coming out with 5G Huawei cant lag behind.

For example, Galaxy S8 about the same battery endurance as Mate 10, but in real life, S8 cant even survive a day, whereas Mate 10 easily get 2 days.
If u dont own the phone, stop badmouthing for it.

Good, we need some competition to Snapdragon and exynos, best chipset so far, and maybe give some proper competition for undisputed Apple A series. Can't wait for next gen 5g chipsets showdown :) Considering Kirin have been behind in power against big boys welcome improvement

But I guess it's kind of the same on all phones with ai. Since pro mode + lightroom/snapseed can do better than the ai edit. Without the loss of quality and details.

What's the point of doubling the performance of the Kirin 1020 when the battery endurance sucks?!!!! Look at the Huawei Mate 10, 4000mah which is freaking huge for a flagship device, Kirin 970... which is a lot faster, more efficient and powerful performance better than SoC 845. Unfortunately, with a Kirin 970, the battery endurance sucks!!!! Now just wait for the Mate 20 battery life to be even worse.
