I bought the device, only for company to say no other support other than what we give. Sounds like a fruit company that I can't bring myself to like, except they do support for 4-5 years rather than 2 (3 if counting security updates).....

Lenovo and Moto models look similar which is to be expected. The camera aperture looks big on the motorola.

Lenovo should Sell Motorola immediately , And Ex Motorola Employees or Google Employees Should start this company again from ground up similar to what HMD is doing with Nokia.

Only reason phone makers put a notch on their screens is so they can bump the price up 40 percent. Just don't pay it!!

I wouldn't have argued had you talked about uninspiring design language, but when it comes to build quality, Xiaomi is the brand to beat!

So what's the drawback with Mediatek , Nothing Other than they are not development friendly , Still their new chipsets like the P60 are really good.
Also Moto and Lenovo aren't the only Ones not giving you updates , All the Brands expect Nokia won't give you updates especially in midrange and budget phones.
Samsung Hardly updates its flagships , Forget about Midrange and Budget , Same With Sony and LG , Huawei. especially Xiaomi the clone Company.
One funny thing I had noticed which is not related to this topic but still , People Don't know how to pronounce Xiaomi They either call it MI ( Emm Eyy) or Redmi.

What moto gains in build quality and looks, looses all in updates.
2 brands which I will never trust again are Lenovo and Motorola.
Current scenario in mobile industry (Budget and mid range segment) is -
Xiaomi - Worst build quality
Moto/Lenovo - Worst updates and they lie.
Samsung - Overpriced garbadge
LG - Overpriced garbadge
Sony - Overpriced garbadge
Honor/Huawei - No developer support
Nokia - Good but should stop using mediatek chips ASAP.
Solution:- OnePlus should launch the successor of OnePlus X.

The other day a "Moto" fanboy was arguing with me saying Moto is much better than Xiaomi and deserves a higher selling price. And his biggest defence for Moto against Xiaomi was "Moto has it's original design". LOL!

Weird: Motorola advertises the moto g6 with it being cheap and not sporting a gimmicky notch on (german) facebook - now lenovo releases a moto with a notch and most likely its a much more expensive model.
