26 June 2018
That's three days after pre-orders in China are supposed to start. Sony Mobile Japan's website says "late August" for the launch.

Other brands maybe selling like cupcakes but part of those profits go to Sony from their sensors. Critics should learn how to do the math.

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2018A phone without OIS that at ISO 51200 does better than S9+ ... moreDon't kid yourself.
The sensor is 1/2.3" which is only a tiny bit larger than Samsung's 1/2.5", which incidentally is the same sized sensor used by Pixel devices (Sony sensors by the way). What you can expect at most is for this phone to perform at ISO 1000 like other top phones perform at ISO 800.
Sony makes it sound like it will approach the quality levels of DSLR, but in reality it will not be anywhere close to their RX100 Professional P&S line.
I like the initial sharpness results of XZ2, but i'm not blind to the limit of a phone sensor capabilities. All they did is just allowed a gain of up to ISO 50k.

16:9 Screen, whyyyy??? If you're going with on-screen buttons, and your XZ2 already has 18:9 Screen, why in the world did you change to 16:9 on a more premium device?

AnonD-94030, 26 Jun 2018as if any one cares about this crap anymore..12million people do. Yepp it's waayyyyyyyyyy less than anyone else. But give it a thought. Smart people are rare.

But they make more money per unit. Sony just needed to sell 50 million units to reach same profits as Samsung Mobile that sells 320 million.

As much as I love Sony devices, the time delay between announcement and launch is long in the tooth. That's one key issue that they've got to resolve if they expect to get customers in the door. Heck, Samsung will announce and launch the next Note faster. It simply cannot take 3-6 months to get this done.

I can never understand people who preorder devices. How would you know it's good for you without seeing it in person, holding it in your hand, or at least reading reviews about its flaws?

So part of their marketing is to not show the front of the phone? That's probably a good thing because people wouldn't want to see those huge bezels anyway.
