Samsung Galaxy Note9 specs and features revealed in detailed hands-on

In the last business quarter, world wide smart phone ships have shown a large decline. Most manufacturers copy each others features. Few stand far ahead. As for me, I've been satisfied with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I don't see enough promised improvement in the coming Note 9 to upgrade. A few features that might motivate me to upgrade could be:
1. A 3x (100mm focal length equivalent) or higher zoom lens.
2. Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 or better fast charging.
3. A bezel free design that is almost all display.
The coming improvements in its processor (slightly faster), battery size (at the expense of weight) and in the rear cameras (slightly more light sensitive and slower motion videos) don't seem compelling. Samsung needs to up their game.

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2018last note from samsung - no one cares about note - not even... moreLag is a spent argument for criticising Samsung phones these days. There simply isn't any because the phones and software are better optimised for a smoother experience.

"improvement in sunlight visibility", they need to remove the curved screen edges if they want it to be usable in sunlight without painful sun reflections/glare!

AnonD-558092, 30 Jun 2018You avoid the question. I know how many phones are availabl... moreWhat question? You only showed that you love Samsung. Know Apple. And you think everything else is made in China. Windows Phone is no more, yet. But if ms make a new phone, it's doa. Unless windows phone focuses on apps, then maybe they will have a chance to get big.
Every single phone you have mentioned, have Chinese components in it.

Zenodroid, 30 Jun 2018Someone doesn't know how big the mobile phone market is ;-)... moreYou avoid the question. I know how many phones are available and how many OEMs exist. But how many aren't just shameless iPhobe copycats? Here's the non-chinese, non-copying OEMs:
Samsung, Apple, Nokia, Sony, what's left of HTC, Motorola, Google, BlackBerry.
Those with international availability and with flagships are even less, you can remove Sony, Nokia, HTC, Motorola and BlackBerry.
So then please, as I am so ignorant and as I barely know what is a cellular phone, what woild you give to somebody you value? And remember I am soooo dumb and barely know anything about technology or anything, as I am very likely to just typing random letters on this keyboard

Anonymous, 29 Jun 2018In fairness Samsung Experience and stock android are basica... moreOne thing for sure Galaxy Note can never be stock android because of the spen feature. Its a good thing though if they are getting closer to stock. However, I feel it starts to lose it purposes when many phone released this year are actually as big as the Galaxy Note itself. Differentiator factor being only the spen. At least all the extra flagship features that not found on other phone keep it competitive.

AnonD-558092, 30 Jun 2018You'd give what to somebody you value? An iPhone X copycat?... moreSomeone doesn't know how big the mobile phone market is ;-) try to explore gsmarena a bit more, and then you see a few more phones than you know. And no matter what phone you have or buy, it's partly from China.

Apart from the Camera, the S ans Note series are mostly incremental improvements on an already superb set of devices.
I an guessing that they want to reserve the very best for the Samsung X and the 10th Anniversary Edition of the S and Note (S10 and Note10), as well as for the Samsung X (a Phablet Hybrid), because they have been planning it for the last few years.
At the time of the S6 and S7 Samsung's cameras were way better than most manufacturer's, and a lot of features which have cone into Android have always been part of the Extras in Samsung Devices. The iPhone X copied their X branding (Samsung was planning it way before Apple) along with the Amoled Display and many features from other android phones. The HEVC and HEIF codecs were good changes, though are not being used as well as they could have (though Sony was already using the HEVC codec on its phones). The iPhone finally has photos comparable with Samsung and other Android flagships even though it was pretending it was better since half a decade.
I think the idea 10th Edition S Series and the Samsung X will really push the limits of Samsung's innovation from the most complete device maker to a pathbreaker in many new innovations and improvements.
