Samsung's foldable Galaxy X will have a curved battery, 3,000 mAh or larger

03 July 2018
This isn't unexpected, given the fact that the screen will fold and the whole device needs to be flexible.

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2018But why ?So we can have an option of foldable phones that are small 'pocket size' when being used casually, but can fold out to more of a small tablet size when screen real-estate is what you want.
I can't wait to see if these are any good.

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2018Jeez use a little logic and have some faithEnjoy spending more than 2k plus additional repair parts.

I hope flexible devices doesn't live up. From past experience everything moving on a phone has expiration date. So this means not going to the future but going back in time when flat cables were destroyed all the time and similar.

But even then it's still probably overall more useful if anything that could be flexible is. And the more flexible they make and test things to be now, the better they can be in the future

Walter C. Dornez, 04 Jul 2018Honestly, hope theey decide to go with 3 full displays with... moreYes that will be the 'right' shape, to get a phone sized device, unfolding to a (small) tablet, or a phablet size unfolding to a tablet size. All in (roughly) 16:9 (as 3*9:16=27/16 is rather close to 16:9 and he factor most likely should be over 3 to count for the device thickness, so gets even closer to 16:9)

I assume when they say flexible battery, what they mean is a 2-part battery with flexible connectors between them?
If it's a fold-able phone as expected rather than something which literally bends and flexes (don't see much practical use for that), then it doesn't need any of the internal components to be flexible at all. They just need to arrange the components with connector ribbons between the two 'halves' of the phone.

Biggest fear of screen protector makers, and case makers.

This phone is meant to be used naked.

this phone is gonna be fat i guess when folded, unless they make the thickness around 4mm when opened, so its about 8mm when folded.
i prefer normal phone with suitable screen size, coz this looks fragile.

Walter C. Dornez, 04 Jul 2018What's the difference?Flexibility. And my old Sony Experia lithium polymer batteries would keep a charge even after a year of being turned off. No joke.
