pop-up camera means no more candid shots using the front-facing camera. too bad.

      Popup cam is nonsense, what can be more beautiful if its already there right infront of you. It can only be broken accidentally. I wont be buying that. Its already sold few years ago courtesy of nokia, samsung, sony, moto phones

Did you know Essential is the first in the modern smartphone market to have a notch? The PH-1 specs about the notch leaked earlier than Apple so they did it first. Sharp then followed up with the Aquos S2 which is announced first before the iPhone X.

                          Interesting to come across this... I am a Sharp Aquos Crystal user since 2014, till now... Yes, it's outdated software's and the 1.5GB Ram is underpowered by today's standard but I used it mainly for SMS and YouTube videos watching... The first (tri) bezelless phone, and it's still stunning despite the screen being only 720p...

                          I also had its bigger brother, Aquos Crystal X... Slightly more RAM (0.5), better camera, battery life improved a bit, NFC, but lacks WiFi HotSpot... Still operational, and design wise it's more dashing considering it's smaller chin...

                          Had no issue with either of the bottom placing camera, in fact loved it for privacy sake... Even if someone tried to background use the from facing camera, it'll be blocked if I'm using the phone...

                          These are 2014 standard... I intended to move to the modern Aquos S2, but then the notch came... The front facing camera right smack at the top in the middle... Shocked to see Essential followed this too...

                          After 4 years, I need to move on, and yes Vivo and Oppo are high on my list... I have to face the fact that I may be stuck to the same Android version for the phone's lifespan, just like my Sharp phones did... :(

                            Fayth, 04 Jul 2018won't they infringe Vivo Nex patent?As long as Xiaomi solution for the motor is different then it does not infringe anything. You can copy the looks similarly but you cant copy the system aka how the internal is. Pretty much how all phone comes with different camera solution. Same hardware but none are the same in the end.

                              They have done with copying Apple, now they are turning to some other brands to copy their innovations... That's how the prices of Xiaomi Phones is lesser than others... Lack of RnD and less investment in terms of Innovation (Mobile Division)...

                                        Only things that matter is the sales, outreach and profits. Do you guys even know personally one person who owned a Sharp phone? Ever?
                                        Stop wasting your time on these useless discussions. Unless there is a patent infringement, it doesn't matter.
                                        Also you guys think that iPhone was so original? If you take a look all the features and tech existed in previous phones, they just combined them better and marketed it better.=> Success! That's it. Originality does not matter for success. It's an illusion. Adaptability matter the most.
