Latest OxygenOS brings support for Project Treble on the OnePlus 5 and 5T

This makes the 5 and 5T the first OnePlus phones to support the feature.

    This update actually bricked my phone and I had to get a different phone. Would have been a nice addition if it didn't break the phone though.

      People are free to criticise anything they want, we are living in the post-magna carter days.

      Besides, Project Treble needed to be available on the OnePlus 5 on release day.
      They didn't, so it means they were behind the likes of Samsung and Sony here. The fact that they repeated this blunder with the OnePlus 5t just shows that they aren't an enthusiasts device anymore.

      The "old" OnePlus would've done so, and implemented Project Treble on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3t as soon as possible... that used to be the pedigree that OnePlus came from. Just like the "old" Motorola devices would've received updates immediately. And the "old" Sony devices would've gained very longterm software support. These OEMs have gotten weaker and less competitive over time, due to changes in management.

Google work closely with other OEMs regarding their new android requirement and android-related project. it's officially announced to the public on last year Google I/O. oneplus could release 5t with project treble from the start (released in november last year), as sony could release xperia xz1 with project treble in september last year.

                    There were news about it in May 2017.
                    Somehow huawei managed to release mate 10 with Project Treble and oreo one month before 5T.
