N... moreI have to agree with you with respect to the triple camera system being gimmicky. And that is coming from someone who uses a Huawei phone (P10)
Dual camera system are more than enough. Personally, I think that even dual camera systems are gimmicky as well. That just kind of shows that companies would rather take two average sensors of smaller size than one great sensor of larger size and combine it with great data processing and gathering (like what the Pixel 2 does, of course their sensors are not that big compared to others like what Sony uses).
Zoom is also just being used for inflating scores on DxOMark, just to say they have better scores in DxOMark. Personally, when I look at DxOMark scores, I disregard the Zoom and Bokeh scores.

Other than its beautifully crafted software, they're just a luxurized cheap, like Beats. Just look at the iPhone's camera, never moved from 1/3" sensor since iPhone 4 lol (oh yeah, 1/3.2" and 1/2.9" isn't that far), and gets that high DxO score.
