08 July 2018
3D face scanning is a good secondary option, but won't cut it by itself.

Finger print readers are for tracking peoples identify and storing there unique profile online
It's hidden motives behind them

Anonymous, 08 Jul 2018Why the fuzz about fingerprint scanner?? I only have a patt... moreLol, you really naive as you are, anyone with little bit of nitty bittty can easely by pass your pattern lock, it is very insecure, fingerprint scanner with iris scanner been in industry for so long because it is work best. if police will get your phone you have right to refuse to unlock, or even someone forces you don't forget you have 10 fingers and only one of them can unlock it. FS is one of the most secure option to lock your phone which falls shortly only to iris scanner

face id and iris unlock needs you to have both of your eyes open, so sleeping is "safe" fingerprint is much risky when you are a sleep cause they can just grab your fingers with you asleep.

Ever since I got my iPhone X I've never wanted my TouchID back. I've still got an iPhone 7 as my backup phone, and I can't stand TouchID on it now. It's so fast and seamless and it works so much more reliably than TouchID ever did. Love it!

still waiting for 2 factor unlock in android. pin+fingerprint, etc..

Fingerprint reader is still my preferred biometric security over face unlock or iris scanners.
I have my face unlock experience with my Galaxy S3 before. It was good, but less reliable because it doesn't work everytime. That's why I always use patterns before FPS are the new normal on this era.

Ask this poll again 3-4 years from now when face/iris unlocking is more adapted by phones and see the result. if i remember it correctly when touch id came out, everybody preferred the passcode/pattern unlock. i remember people making mould of the fingerprint trying to fool the iphone 5s and all the paranoia about fingerprint not as secure as a passcode/pattern unlock.

After using both in parallell extensively for a long time I say 3D face scanning without a doubt. I have much less issues with it (no problem with wet, sweaty or dirty hands or when using gloves), it works flawlessly for me. There is only one situation where I prefer fingerprint (on the front) and that is when I have the phone infront of me on the table.

It's much more convenient in general. Like showing my messages on the lockscreen only when I look at the phone (no action needed), for simple logins, again without action from me. I so much prefer the more passive system of face recognition compared to have to "klick" something.

Anonymous, 08 Jul 2018Why the fuzz about fingerprint scanner?? I only have a patt... moreAs I explained in the initial comments page:
                          https://m.gsmarena.com/newscomm-31969.php
Pins & patterns are not as secure as FPS, especially with video cameras all over the place, or just someone looking over your shoulder, so always shield this action.

With this captured info. if someone managed to get hold of your phone, even if it's switched off, they can gain full access, whereas an FPS would require authorisation from yourself to gain access.

Yes, a front facing FPS is preferrable to on the back (as long as it doesn't restrict any other features).

A front facing FPS can be capacitive or built into the screen/ display:
                          https://m.gsmarena.com/galaxy_s10_to_ditch_the_iris_scanner_for_an_indisplay_fingerprint_and_facial_recognition-news-31820.php

FPS is clearly not yesterday's news.

Now even a side placement looks possible:
                          https://m.gsmarena.com/galaxy_s10_might_have_a_fingerprint_reader_on_the_side_and_a_super_wide_angle_lens-news-32109.php

FPS should always be part of the security authentication mix, but you can still use your favourite alternative method instead :)

I would like a phone with double fingerprint sensor, one in the side like Xperia XZ1 and the upcoming phones with fingerprint on the screen... but i just dislike the ones with the sensor in the back, it's totally uncomfortable to unlock those phones specially if they are on some table or flat surface.

I use sandpaper a lot and find that by the end of the day my phone's finger print reader can't register my decimated skin! Face unlock is an absolute god send. I think its great that phone manufacturers add more and more tech as even if one aspect of a phones capabilities is useful to a small group at least most will find something that they find indispensable about the phones performance. No point grumbling about having too many options!

Ergonomic, secure and fast, is what's important. Face ID fail in 2. Though FPS on the back is also not ergonomic all the time.
Still, quite many enjoy animoji, born because we use face id hw. Iris scanner is also welcome, the more ID scanners it got, the more its possible to use the ones you prefer and in combination, so if one fails you can still use another.
Face id is as fresh as fps under screen, its bound to get better in future, but I prefer to have more than one "key", which when lost means big trouble to you.

Iris scanning is a great compromise between the security of fingerprint scanning and the convenience of face scanning. It's fast, reliable, and efficient. Arguably less secure than the fps, but not everyone is an important persona so the world couldn't care less about they're data.

The only downside at the moment is it isn't very good around bright sunlight. But it works perfectly in the dark and even when you have prescription glasses on.

BlackBerry Picture Password is the best, you can look how the unlocking the phone but if you trying to unlock it, it will be cant unlocked. Check on YouTube to How it is works.
