If the EU really wanted change fiest ans foremost join woth ALL allied narions and STOP Google kr Alohabet from being a monolpoly that is hidden ONLY in the patent companies namw change as a loop hole.
Google is BOTH the OS, API creator for so amny ofnthr competition while ALSO being. Direct competitor which unfairly skews evwn landscape to enable equal and thriving compeution as updates to Pixels havw a VERY unfaie advantagw of bug fixes and festures in the OS granted to Google owned and made products first before any competitor which SHOULD be illegal due to theie SOLE control of the entire platform!
Thats first.
Next off MAKE google alllowANY ISWR TO NOT JUST STOP APPLICATIONS FROM GOOGLE BUT ALSO FULLY REMOVE THEM AND PREVENT THEM FROM INSTALLING ever again simply because another useful google app has updated. I got rid of google search app and Google One app NEVER touching nor launching them beyond simply trying to permanently remove safely from mt phone.
NOT EVERYONE shouldn't be FORCED TO AN ENTIREE SCREEN of google branded apps or a foldsr of them for nk reason at all beyond the USERS own dorect persomal reason should supercede ANY application creator

The EU is all about generating revenue by fining American companies, but if they really wanted to solve the problem, they would make it a requirement that all apps may be uninstalled by the user. I don't really care if EU users are to lazy to install a different search or browser app (1% according to EU Commissioner for competition Margrethe Vestager), but when there is 500 MB of rap apps permanently on your phone, it's pretty limiting. I'm going to eventually get into ADB and back them out, but it's been about 18 months and I still haven't gotten to it. Might be buying a different brand next time. I already gave up on Samsung due to their usurping of my memory.

Andy, 10 Jul 2018I guess the difference is iOS isn't open source and Android isI believe it most be the same about Apple and all others. like Samsung is pushing people to use Bixby (sh!ttiest thing I've ever seen) so it must have an end too.

That OS is crazy all it need is a proper push in the right direction. Of course nobody wants to take off. It does not do slavery work for "the corporations". it is actually a system of times when companies were innovationg and were not dragged down by money hungry/data hungy capitalists.

And then even if you manage to make an acceptable replacement to Android, you have to make consumers to adopt it. And for that you need some serious OEM support and app developers support too. MS failed at almost all stages of that process. I don't think a government can do it well

What a load of crap.
Making google services be removed from the os will mean the product will not function how people have come to expect from google software and that will mean google will get a bad name because they have fallen and their os can't do half the things it once did that made the use of android so good.
And thus this all will only make things worse for consumers and for from better

Guys please understand this, monopoly is very dangerous. Google has already become aggressive, trying to eat away other markets. If any organization like Google becomes too big, it can influence a whole lot of things. No matter what kind of intentions they have right now, no one can predict the future. It's already scary how much Google influence our lives right now.

My Redmi S3 Prime has Xiaomi's bloat as well as Google's bloat. If you can't remove an unnecessary app from your phone then that's a bloat, it doesn't matter if it's Google product.

One of the first thing that i do everytime i get new android phone is trying to uninstall or disable Google Chrome and Google Search.
For browser i always prefer Opera and Firefox
