I still use my Sony SW 2
5 years old and battery still good for 4 days with screen always on.... there is nothing better to buy.
SONY please make a SW4.

I cant stand fitness trackers/new wearables - why? they look like abominations of notched phones. What happened to good old moto 360 and huawei watch designs? Im running a ticwatch E myself since it looks "okay" for a low priced wearable with full android wear support. Also HR is useless to me, better pack in thrice the battery!

Obviously "all of the above" since we want to have a good balance of compromises. Its about a good mixture of hardware, software, and style.

I would settle for a Apple Watch v3 that's round.
Or the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier running AndroidWear 2.0 ("WearOS").
Or just the Huawei Watch v1 with a newer SoC (eg 10nm 1.5GHz Quadcore A35).
....and realistically none of that is going to happen.

So I will hold off on any "side-grading", as OEMs don't want to serve me the paying consumer.

I had a smartwatch once. Can't tolerate the daily charging. I want the display always on because I want the watchface displayed all the time like a regular wristwatch to complement my clothing. However, 'always on' kills the amoled screen with severe burn ins and kills the sealed battery fast. So I had set it at 'auto wake up' when wrist is turned. It defeated my purpose of making it a fashion accessory to match my attire. Stopped using it after a while. Washed it thoroughly under running faucet water. It got water damaged despite the water resistance. Long story short: it died. Did not miss it whatsoever. Felt relieved not having to charge any device at all. (My phone has removable battery; I just carry a spare battery and swap when needed. I charge the spent battery in an external charger overnight when I'm home).

Look at Apple watch. THATS the ONLY GOOD smartwatch.

The rest is either too bulky, or too lack in features or style.

stress monitoring is a must. I will be stressed out if my battery went out in the middle of the day

Multi-day battery life? How about multi-month? They should last at least for a month.

I can't believe these gadgets are becoming better than ever.

And she was comfortable with it. A lot of people says the same thing as you, but after wearing it for a few days, makes them realize that it's actually not as big as you look at it.

Somehow, Apple became the biggest watch maker in the world. Apple shipped more watch than Swiss Watch Industry itself. Whatever Apple doing it is working well more so than android watch maker.

I tried comparing their size to my current wristwatch (not a smartwatch though) and many of them are still quite bigger. The smallest one I've seen (demo model only, store doesn't have any stock then) was the Gear S2 classic but it's still a bit bigger. I'm not a tall guy and my wrist is kinda small so big watches would look kinda absurd on me.

However, yes, I want to carry a lot of songs on my watch sometimes and I don't want to carry my phones with me on the jog. And I feel the 4 GB of storage is really choking on me when I have to decide which songs to use. ^^; and Apple's 8 GB is breezier option compared to Android. However I feel 16 GB would suffice for me.

The wide range of sports tracking covers almost all the other boxes as they are needed to achieve this; such as Built-in HRM, GPS, Waterproof, and Stress monitoring.

The others usually come with the SoC (WiFi / LTE) and WearOS (App store), contactless payment (NFC) is also dependent on SoC / OS

Didn't this poll happened last week also?

Always liked ms band, bringing multiple and new sensors, there is just no limit to it, sometimes I would want such in a phone, but wearables taken over some of that role - collecting and showing data, being most close to user.
Battery that can last a day with also gps and lte may be still a dream, but hopefully not for long.
Auto exercise tracking, without setting what you will do is also important to get people to use that +1 more device.
Rotating bezel or similar kind of other input besides screen is also great.
Big screen would be also welcome, something like those bending phones projects that can work like watch... no need to have watch watch-like, something like wide stripe of big screen on hand would be also awesome.

You should hardly swim with a smartwatch with that rating. 5 ATM (50m) is ok to swim with, but still not for diving.

Personelly I use a Garmin Fenix 5X, with a battery that I only need to recharge once a week, and thats with some training passes with GPS on and 24/7 heartrating monitoring. It has multiple offline maps for outdoor activities (hiking, cycling and so on), its durable and with 10 ATM rating (100m). It handles notifications, can control phone apps like Spotify, everything I need.
